Clothing Style

Turul doesn't really care what he wears as long as it doesn't look stupid to him. He tends to wear whatever style his twin sister picks out (sometimes punk, both more recently steampunk for fighting in the ring) and he doesn't argue when she wants them to coordinate. When relaxing at home he sticks to very simple clothing and doesn't like anything with logos, words, or pictures on it, unless it's a plated accessory with a symbol engraved on it, and even then he's rather picky about it. Usually when at home he tends to just lounge around in a sleeveless shirt and boxers or sweatpants depending on the weather. He really doesn't like sleeves in any situation though.

His most common outfit is the ensemble he wears when with Tilia fighting in the underground fight ring. This consists of a sturdy leather sleeveless shirt with an asymmetrical bottom. He wears a metal shoulderguard on his right side with two reinforced belts across his shoulders and chest. He also wears two other leather belts around his waist, the lower and thinner one having stitches and a metal buckle that connects to a chain that interconnects with another chain connected to the belt he wears around his hips with his black pants. He has a leather belt around each thigh and wears brown boots with metal reinforcing the heels, soles, and toes. Each boot has five straps with metal plates across the front, each having a different symbol and text.

He almost always wears his reinforced gloves when he goes out, and he never leaves home without his gold family medallion around his neck and his orange scarf, usually tied around his left leg and sometimes tucked into his boot. While fighting in the ring, he and Tilia wear reinforced protective goggles. When not fighting, Turul prefers to wear them around his neck.

Personality

Turul is a silent and anti-social man whose bright mind is usually overlooked due to his appearance and aggressive nature. He is extremely introverted and outright refuses to speak to people outside his family. He usually "talks" by whispering something to Tilia for her to say instead, and the most other people hear of him is the occasional word or two he might say to get her attention when she's not close by. He doesn't communicate well with anyone who isn't family and isn't fond of other people in general. He needs to take breaks from being around crowded areas or it will cause him unreasonable amounts of stress and anxiety. In the worst case scenario he may become so stressed that will trigger into a violent and paranoid rampage, brought on my issues with his demonic aura affecting his mental state. This causes him to hallucinate everything is closing in around him, or that the crowd surrounding him is hostile and smothering, so he feels the uncontrollable need to fight his way out of it. He tends to remove himself from overly social situations when he starts to feel overwhelmed or just avoids them altogether to prevent this from happening.

On a glance, Turul seems rather intimidating due to his size, his rugged appearance, and his tendency to have a resting scowl on his face. He's actually rather mild and unassuming in peaceful situations, and he is fine with just letting his twin or other family members do most of the talking when they're around. He's much more sensible and thoughtful than his twin sister, and although he wouldn't consider himself an intelligent person he is usually resourceful and clever enough to come up with solutions to their problems more often than not. However, Tilia tends to rush headlong into conflict before he has a chance to mention said solution to her, which can be rather bothersome.

He comes off as a rather quiet and brooding man in neutral settings, but he can immediately turn aggressive once a threat arises. He doesn't particularly find a lot of enjoyment from fighting, but he does find it satisfying to brute force his way through his problems when applicable. He knows when it's not appropriate, but he won't hesitate to use violence when he knows it's actually a viable option. He'll also immediately back up his sister in any fights she picks whether or not he actually agrees with her on if starting the fight was the right decision or not. He's just as protective of his sister as she is toward him, and although they fight and are rough with each other, they are as close as can be and won't tolerate anyone or anything else harming the other. Around his other siblings, Turul is still somewhat quiet, but he can hold normal conversations with them and generally gets along with all of them. He loves his mother very much as well and is grateful for the effort she's put into caring for all of them, and he doesn't seem to be bothered with how much she still babies all of them. As tough as he might look, he's never embarrassed by any of the affection his mother might show him.

Backstory

Turul was always very observant and quiet compared to his louder twin sister. He tended to figure out solutions to problems before her but wouldn't get the chance to mention anything before she got herself into trouble. He and his sister would often get into scraps with each other, always started by his sister, and the two became interested in learning how to fight at young ages. They'd spar with each other in secret since their mother would scold them for fighting, especially since she didn't like Tilia fighting with her brother in general.

Turul was always seen as a trouble child, but he was usually only following his sister's lead. He never liked being without someone from his family around when he had to interact with other people, so he always had to go with whatever Tilia wanted since she was often the only one around all the time. He disliked being around other people so much he outright refused to speak with anyone other than his family, and Tilia would be his communicator most of the time. This led to him being misinterpreted by most people since he would never express himself openly, and to this day most people outside his family hardly have any sense of what kind of person he is.

After finishing their schooling, Turul followed his sister to Daliarivon when they moved out, and the two frequented a underground fighting ring as a team. The two were very successful and gain most of their income through their winnings. Turul doesn't particularly care for all the attention they get, but he won't let his sister continue the lifestyle alone despite knowing she could probably do just fine in the ring on her own. Turul and Tilia continue their life of fighting in Daliarivon, he being moderately content with their status. He'd prefer a bit more mental stimulus in his life, but won't complain. Lately he seems to have caught the interest of a regular spectator of the ring fights, a mysterious heiress named Rosaria. At first he wasn't really interested back, but her persistence is starting to work on him and he's not sure what to think of it.

Trivia:

  • Turul's name was inspired by the a mythological bird of prey of the same name from Hungarian legend. It was partially tied to Shrike's name, which was also a type of bird, and Tilia's name since I wanted them both to have names that started with the same letter.
  • Recently Turul has developed affection for Rosaria, who at first didn't interest him in particular. However, her persistence in catching his attention seems to have worked.
    • He seems genuinely charmed by her, but he is very hesitant to pursue a relationship with her since he gets very uncomfortable in intimate situations with anyone other than his family.
    • He also fears his own mental instabilities since he has trouble controlling his aggression at times and he doesn't feel "at ease" around Rosaria like his father would feel calm around Joy, so he worries he would hurt her at some point during their relationship.
    • So far he's slowly warming up to socializing with her, and he's even more slowly been trying to ease himself into spending time with her without his sister to support him.
  • Originally his hair was going to be a blue-ish black color.
  • He tends to like a metal/metallic aesthetic for his environment, and he includes a lot of metal accessories in his look.
  • Dislikes bright lights that aren't natural sunshine. He's not terribly fond of bright sunlight either, but he tolerates it better than bright artificial lights. He prefers his environment to be a little more dimly lit.
  • His favorite color is orange.
  • His favorite foods are, predictably, mostly seafood. His favorite fish in particular is eel.
  • He gets very anxious in crowded areas, to the point where if he doesn't get away to de-stress himself he'll have a mental breakdown and lash out at anyone that gets close to him; he can handle crowds better if he has someone (usually Tilia) who can keep his attention and ease his anxiety.
  • Gets super annoyed about Tilia talking about the fanfiction she's found about them online because it grosses him out to no end. Goddamn twincest ships...
  • When nervous, he tends to glance back and forth across the ground or grit his teeth.
  • His first kiss was with Rosaria after their third date, although Turul was a bit startled by it and he quickly pulled away from her; he tended to avoid letting her kiss him on the lips after that since he was worried he might instinctually bite off her face or something of the like, since he doesn't always trust himself.
  • Not terribly interested in getting married, but not because he doesn't want to make commitments. He just considers the notion of being with someone outside his family for a long period of time to be somewhat frightening, since he's never trusted anyone else or spent that much time with anyone but family members.
    • He's also not sure about ever having a family of his own, mostly because he's afraid he might end up like his dad and try to eat his own children.
  • Turul doesn’t mention it to other people, usually not even his own family, but he doesn’t actually like being perceived as a “violent person.” He doesn’t care that much for fighting but acknowledges it is something he is good at. He mostly fights alongside Tilia because it is what she wants to do, and he doesn’t want her doing it alone. He does find some enjoyment in finding calm while in either controlled fights or fights against clear cut enemies, but he doesn’t like the supposition that he’s just always an aggressive and dangerous person.
    • He has some silent resentment for himself due to his issues with his demonic aura. Under stress, it forces him to be more violent and erratic than he wants to be, and he doesn’t see himself as “that person” when it causes him to trigger into instability. He views his aggressive side as some kind of other identity that he would prefer not to have, but it’s just something he seems to be chronically stuck with.
  • Old Charahub blurb: "One of the Shank twins, he is a thoughtful man of few words but has no qualms about letting his fists talk for him."
