Nobutaka Deguichi

A mobster boss that deals in illegal firearms.

Nobutaka's father was once high up the ladder in one of the Yakuza's clan, but greed and anger chipped away at him over the years. When he wasn't dubbed boss after the one before died, he decided to break away from the family and start an even stronger business. He took his wife and, after years of running, fled to the US. It took nearly a decade, but Taka's father was finally able to take control of some of the chaos and corruption in the States and create a "family". Around that time, he actually did start a family, with the birth of his son, Nobutaka. From day one he trained the boy in the ways of running a mob.
Things seemed to progress nicely... until the strength from the new mob reached the Yakuza. The leader of Taka's father's old clan was furious at the betrayal, and ordered a strike via the Nightingale.
It happened in one of the rare times when Taka got to join his father. He was a teenager, but raring to take leadership. His father snapped at him to not be so quick to take over when there were so many things he still had to learn...
... right before he was taken down.
Taka stood in shock for a moment, but his instincts possessed him. He grabbed the gun from his father's hidden holster and fired in the direction the bullet came from.

Now Taka is older and has an impressive "family" working the underworld of his city. The success is tasty, but it isn't enough. It never will be until he snuffs out the Nightingale, and the damned idiot that dared to hire him.

Notes: Taka was meant to be more on the NPC side of things. He was going to be a basic antagonist to love interests for Frederick. Problem is, people liked Taka a lot more! He oftentimes won! Tbh he's pretty fun to write too KEKEKEK
Bringing him into Toyhouse he got rowdier, but the most interesting thing to me is that he became a kind of exploration into racial identity that really resonates with me. He's Japanese but raised in the USA with American customs. He doesn't know anything about his Japanese background but he still gets profiled and things assumed about him. Idk it's nice to not be alone on that.

Personality: Hotheaded with a vicious temper; Taka is a loudmouth that will always have something to say about anything. Don't mistake his obnoxious nature, though, as he can be cruel and calculating when he needs to be. He's very sadistic to people that betray him.

Voice: Slightly raspy but drenched with cruel intention; Ian McShane

Drawing Details: He's covered in scars from past fights, but the one to keep an eye out for is the one along his left cheek. It follows the smile but doesn't connect with it. He always tends to have a wolfish grin or a shark smile on his face, although it's also fine to draw him with other emotions. Loves red jackets.

Fun/Extra Facts:

- Knows that Frederick is the Nightingale but won't tell the public. He wants to ruin the man's life on his own.

- Every restaurant he owns has a certain table permanently reserved for when he needs to do underworld business.

- Gets very angry when people assume he's yakuza or fluent in anything Japanese.

- Gives everyone he meets a nickname.

- Hates tomatoes.

- Has dogs that he has literally fed some people to.

- Smokes and drinks a lot.

- The scar on his face is from when Frederick shot his face. He shot the assassin in the stomach at the same time and left a scar there as well.

- Hates rude customers; is one.

- Lives in New York, but his business spreads across the States.

- Is almost always swearing.

- Traumatized a young child once saying he was them from the future to get them to stop screaming in his 'restaurant'. Apparently not proper 'Restaurant owner' behavior. - VioletValentine870
