Nobutaka Deguichi's Links
[Rival] Has a longtime hatred for the Nightingale for killing his parents. Wants to kill him slowly and painfully. Once shot Frederick in the stomach and left a scar there.
If you plan to ship a male character with Taka, you'll be insta-locked into a love triangle with Frederick aiming for your heart as well.
[Rival] Once a hit request, but now personal with the death of his aunt. Frederick took Taka's mother's life as a form of revenge, but he won't be satisfied until Taka's dead as well. Shot him in the face once, leaving a scar on his cheek.
If you intend to ship someone with Freddy, you'll be insta-locked into a love triangle with Taka aiming for your heart too.
Lin's father helped Taka's parents escape the Yakuza's grip when they escaped to America, and when his parents passed away, it was Lin's mom that taught Taka how to become a leader. He considers them like an aunt and an uncle, highly respecting them. He thinks of Lin as a kind of younger brother, letting him eat at his restaurants for free.
Lin considers Nobutaka as the "rough and tumble" type of older brother - who eminates a same atmosphere as Nio. Taka has known his family before Lin was born, which automatically makes the mobster a man of respect and of higher authority to him.
...Sometimes he just wants to eat and sleep in one of his many restaurants located in the city.
"HA, YOU AIN'T GOT A CHANCE, LEMONADE HEAD! LET'S SEE WHAT YOU GOT!"
"HEY LET'S FIGHT I THINK I CAN BEAT YOU THIS TIME, RIGHT?"
Taka came into the store figuring it was a good way to learn a bit about his culture. The treats were tasty as hell, so he was pretty hooked. He likes to stop by now and then with his men, but even a calming atmosphere like that store isn't immune to Taka's wrath should he catch someone looking at him funny.
Kon still respects him as one of his customers - but he is always concerned about his loud and chaotic character. Kon is usually displeased in the end because he ends up fending away many of his guests due to his rough and gruff personality, as well as his scary appearance.
"Hell nah, I ain't gettin' tied down!"
"This is my mob boss husband."
Taka used to frequent the brothel whenever he had some urges and didn't want to waste time on dates. Still does now and then. He screwed just about everyone in there save the manager, and when he finally gets some time with her he realizes she's actually a he?? Honestly he didn't care. It was easier for him, too, since he didn't have to worry about breaking him. Aysun actually has the time of his life during those moments, and he feels damn great, so the two get along just fine.
Taka is one of Aysun's regular customers. In fact, he visited so often that eventually the mob boss took an interest to the manager and bought time with him. He didn't even seem to mind the fact that Aysun was actually a man. An aggressive mobster that doesn't even let up in bed? He's easily one of Aysun's favorites.
Taka doesn't know why the hell Birdbrain is so smitten with someone as below average as Ethan, but that just makes things easier for him. He'll use Ethan any way he can to ruin the Nightingale, from trying to win him over to even resorting to torture.
At least until he gets his own love interest.
Ethan's not very aware of the rivalry between Freddy and Taka. He doesn't even know who Taka is, just that his restaurants are nice to eat at for the few occasions he can afford to. He just finds it weird that the owner of those restaurants would be especially nice to him. Maybe it's to make up for the plenty of times he's gotten food poisoning there...?
[Rivals] Ma Fia and Taka's gang often fight for spots across the map, though both bosses seem to run into each other often in good ole New York. No matter how much shittalk Taka throws, he always ends up getting his ass handed to him by the old lady.
[Rivals] Even despite his successes as a boss, Ma Fia sees Taka as little more than a kid trying too hard to fill his daddy's shoes. Humors his big talk and gives him a proper beat down each time, finding his attempts quite entertaining, as long as he doesn't cross any lines..
[Rivals/Friends] Oda is a prominent Yakuza and therefore will always be hated by Taka. If he could he would have killed the old windbag ages ago, but it's not always that simple. The last thing he needs is a gang war, so the two mob bosses usually end up talking and getting drinks. Sometimes, however, Taka can't help but get into bar fights with Oda when he gets teased a little too much.
[Rival/Friend]
"The boy's got some mighty guts! A kiddo like him would be great for the clan. Unfortunately, he's too wild for me to tame."
He doesn't care if Nobutaka is a mob boss. The fact that he conveniently appears so often for him gives Mogachan the opportunity to tease and heat up the boy by poking fun at him. However, he admires Taka's tenacity and gives alot of leeway to what Oda controls.
At some point you might consider him at Oda's friend, but Mogamachi takes him as more of a rowdy, stubborn child that needs to be straightened up.
[Related] Taka is Don's grandfather. He loves the kid and sees a LOT of potential in him. He's a mountain of a man with the strength to back it up but he chooses to do this shit called PACIFY?! HE DOESN'T EVEN BOWL?! Taka loves Don but this can be very disappointing. Whenever he's around he tries to get Don to see the better side of being a rowdy mobster.
Don looks up to his grandfather, he really does, but he's just not the kind of fighter that he wants him to be. He tries his best, but he really does wish Taka would see that sometimes fighting isn't the first solution to go to. Still, he tries his best to impress his grandfather, even if it's not something that is really him.
[Related] Taka is Carmen's grandfather. From the moment she was born he started prepping her on how to become a successful mob boss, especially with their group growing fast at this time. Her attitude, her wits, her strength, her love for bowling. Carmen is Taka's pride and joy. He has no doubts she'll be a great boss.
Ever since Carmen was a little kid, she absolutely idolized her grandfather, wanting to do everything he did. As she got older, it's very clear where her rowdiness and readiness to fight came from, as well as her love for bowling. She still looks up to Taka immensely, and enjoys getting to spend time with him whenever she can.
Taka originally lingered around Terry's classroom in order to get Rowen in his group, but when something happened to the teacher he took it upon himself to help him out. He knew better than anyone how lonely and painful that spot he's in could be, so he helped him out of it. Nowadays he respects Terry and makes sure just about everyone in his gang sends their kids to this school.
Never in a million years would Terry think he'd befriend a mob boss; it was an even less likely chance that he'd be the one person he could lean on. When things took a turn for the worst in his family, Taka was the one who helped him out of the hole, reassuring him through the pain. Now the two seem fairly close, even if it doesn't always look that way.
[Lovers] Ambushes, assassination attempts, wars, they're all things Taka is used to; it's how he came to be covered in scars. At one point he thought himself immortal until he got into a nasty incident involving both a rival gang's ambush and a certain assassin. Taka was left in the alley to bleed to death as slowly and painfully as possible, but right as he was at Death's Door Colette was there to help his wounds. He was grateful for her help and had to admit that he liked her looks, but he wouldn't get any closer than that, wanting her to stay away from the criminal underworld. But Fate kept bringing them together no matter how much he resisted and within time he found himself completely hooked on her, keeping her close whenever possible.
[Lovers] When she came across Taka--bloody, wounded, and left for dead--Colette couldn't leave him there alone. Stitching up his wounds, she found herself intrigued to the mobster she had stumbled upon. She hadn't expected to find herself falling in love with him as well. Even though the new found feelings frightened her and his dangerous position worried her, Colette kept finding herself drawn to Taka. This time, she knew she wanted to be brave enough to stay with him.
Taka never really thought about Terry with kids of his own. Sure the guy is a nephew, but he practically lives there like his own! Back when the kid was a literal kid he was adorable, but now he acts the exact same as his uncle! It's weird! But at least Taka gets a good laugh whenever he hears Owen trying to get into the gang.
Taka claims to be his uncle's best friend, and though Owen doubts the "best" part, he has to admit that the two seem close. Taka hasn't done anything to hurt Terry, either, only giving him gifts now and then and dropping in randomly. He's a scary guy, both loud and violent, but Owen holds some admiration for him.
[Related] From the minute Justis was born Taka was already teaching him the ways of their mob and how to run it. Justis is his pride and joy, and he's very happy with how he's turned out over the years. He's a very capable leader, he'll take the mob farther than Taka ever could.
[Related] Justis holds nothing but respect for his father, and if he can be half the leader he was, he's sure that he'll do just fine leading the mob. Definitely picked up his love of bowling from his father.
[Related] Ellie's father-in-law. Taka always thought Justis was joking about marrying a cop, didn't think it'd actually happen! Although he's still not convinced a little dame like Ellie is REALLY a cop. She's a firecracker, though, and it seems like his son authentically likes her, so she's got his seal of approval.
[Related] Nobutaka Deguichi, otherwise known as the Great White Tiger. He's more infamous than Justis, and he's WAY scarier than him too. All those rumors Ellie had heard in the precinct were true, he's got scars all over him like tiger stripes! He's absolutely terrifying, and yet... he's just a loud, obnoxious partier like her husband!!
Taka only went to Japan once and that was to get to the bottom of who hired the hit on his parents. He's got to admit, though, he hated it in Japan. He would've beaten up everyone there if it hadn't been for Rogu helping him. Although Rogu's super creepy and weird.
Honestly, Taka barely recognizes the grunts in his underworld empire, let alone the staff at his restaurants. There's one where he notices a kid with a pretty sour face. Ain't really what you'd expect for a five star restaurant's staff, but, well, Taka's not the kind of boss people expect either.
Trip is a determined hard-working guy, so even if he looks out of place he's sure to make himself worth watching. He doesn't exactly see his boss a lot, but he gets the oddest vibes from him- surely he can't be that bad of a guy right?
[AU] He gets it, losing parents hurts like hell, and not everyone's going to be there to tuck you in and give you treats when you're feeling the blues. It's because he gets it that Taka checks on Maribelle now and then. She's a little shit, don't get him wrong, he'd love to bonk her every time she gets that attitude spike, but kid's got potential. He thinks the best thing for her is to take that sadness and anger and funnel it into a healthier lifestyle, like being in a gang!
For the most part, Maribelle enjoys Nobutaka's company. He can be funny, and now and then kind. His outbursts tend to frighten her, yes, but she supposes it isn't much different from Laojin Base, and at least he gives enough of a shit to look after her. That all said, she is willing to do dirty work for him. Again, it's not so different from what she's used to. From now on, though, she's just going to lose all games against him on purpose to be spared his wrath.
If we're being honest? Dude freaks Taka the fuck out. He's so... creepy! Who discos in this day and age? And why's he so stuck in the 70's?? Whatever. He knows just about everything going on in the city, and he handles the dogs damn well.
Timmy J is pretty wary around Taka. Not only is he a rival boss of his sister-in-law's, but he doesn't seem like the most considerate owner for dogs... or any animal. To his surprise, the many times he visits Taka's place (unannounced) he sees the dogs in good shape, and happy too! Looks can be deceiving, huh? Timmy J continues to train Taka's dogs, and also gives him information when it suits him.
Anytime Taka sees Sienna he can't help but unload short jokes at her. Her reactions are just too damn funny, even if it means getting lodged in the ceiling now and then.
“Y’know, I gotta thank that beanpole for giving me the opportunity to learn how battering rams work! I’ve been bashing his head through walls and ceilings and he’s still as sprightly as ever. Love that for him.”
