The Four Sacred Beasts are a group of legendary deities that rule over the cardinal constellations of Asia. Sol is the leader of the troupe encompassing the Vermillion Phoenix, White Tiger, Azure Dragon, and himself as the Black Tortoise. The roots of these symbols trace back to wartimes, and they now function to maintain peace by watching overย respective regions of Japan.
Centuries ago when the country was at war, it was prophesied that the Black Tortoises- an influential clan excelling in dark magic, would give rise to the first deity guarding northern Japan. The Tortoises are identified by their black attire emphasizing their beautiful off-white hair that shines even in darkness, as well as their distinct peach-pink colored eyes. The family is known to train their children with brutal methods that optimize the growth of their dark magic. As a toddler, Sol immediately went under intense training to control his strength, in which often resulted in rampages that caused injuries to his own family. Some time later, his mother gave birth to his younger sisterย Heian.ย
Discreetly, the leaders of the Black Tortoises had conspired to use Sol and his growing powers to eliminate the influence of other gods. Unable to stomach their ways, Sol developed a brewing hatred towards his family for their selfish ideologies and inhumane treatment to their own kind.ย An assassination eventually fell on the Black Tortoises by strong enemy families who wished to destroy the household of the first deity. Instead of securing a win for his family with his refined power, he betrayed his parents who were on the brink of death and felt relief in his heart. He took Heian alone and ran, leaving the rest of the Tortoises and their corpses to perish.
๐๐๐พ๐๐ ๐๐ฟ๐พ๐ธ๐ป๐ด๐ - Because Sol is part of a story I have in mind, the following will detail events occurring in his future.
Heianย | Sister
Heian is Sol's blood-related younger sister. The two of them are the only ones left of the Black Tortoise family. When they were young, Sol would take care of Heian from time to time, but was not able to bond with her for most of their childhood due to his constant rampages of power in which he would be sealed in a cave for days. During this period, Heian would check up on Sol through her mirror techniques via puddles and ponds. The two of them aren't particularly close on a daily basis, but manages to see eachother once in awhile. Sol is not a doting brother, but shows concern for her safety in times of distress. The other deities often suggest for Heian's help in assisting them with her power, in which Sol disagrees every time. If possible, he doesn't wish to involve her in any deity affairs.ย
Kaiย | Four Beasts - Azure Dragon
Within the Four Beasts, Sol is considered to be closest with Kai, the Azure Dragon. In efforts from both families to foster good relations with the first two beasts, Sol and Kai were introduced to eachother when they were 5 and 7 years old, respectively. The two of them have a longstanding relationship compared to the other members and maintain a high degree of respect for one another. Within the group, Kai is the only member who is willing to openly strike playful conversations with Sol. Althoughย Sol doesn't mind casual conversations with Kai once in awhile, he gets annoyed easily when the dragon starts to pry.ย
Ukiyoย | Four Beasts - Vermillion Phoenix
Ukiyo is the Vermillion Phoenix of the Four Beasts and maintains a respectable relationship with Sol. The two of them are often seen together as the brains of the beasts. They have very good rapport with eachother and are able to easily understand one another due to similar intelligence levels and pathways of thinking. However, their relationship is solely formal for the purpose of work. If they were put together in a casual setting, they would have an extremely hard time socializing and it'd probably end up being a long staring contest.ย
[TBA]ย | Four Beasts - White Tiger
Sol and the White Tiger are the most distant pair within the Four Beasts, possibly due to disparities in age, mindsets, and maturity levels. Although Sol believes her powers prove to be worthy enough as a sacred beast, he continues to view her as a child. On the other hand, the White Tiger tends to adopt an apprehensive nature around Sol despite her usual cheery attitude, often becoming quieter than usual in his presence.
Yoonย | Acquaintance
Sol has a transactional relationship with the Dream-eater Princess, often involving give-and-take favours from each end. He refers to her as the "tiny kitten" for her small stature but fierce chimera-like appearance when dream-eating. Yoon uses her dream-eating powers to eat Sol's nightmares and dark episodes in his sleep. Because of this, she is one of the few people who knows about the extent of darkness within him.ย In return, Sol appears by her side to lend extra combat power, as she is incapable of any offensive powers. The two of them enjoy conversing and debating with one another whenever he pays short chit-chat visits and stows away to her palace when he doesn't want to be found, often freeloading for a few days before returning to his duties. At the end of the day, the two of them can be considered as friends, even though they themselves wouldn't never use that term to describe their relationship.
