Marina

Before the existence of nonhumans were known to the public in Glaen, human scientists of the Richye Legion had begun experimentations on humans using Ziel magic alchemy in pursuit to create the superior human species and become immortal. These experimentated humans were called the Evaera, or the Evolved Ones. The Evaera are genetically modified humans with an alchemy created gem called Tiaveth embedded in their bodies. With the Tiaveth, the Evaera could use magical powers and even transform their physical bodies.

Marina is an orphan raised by human scientists and experimented on, becoming the earliest Evaera. However she was modified with a prototype and unstable Tiaveth, and thus was under surveillance of the Richye Legion in case she and her Tiaveth went out of control and hurt the human population.  Her unstable blue Tigerfish Tiaveth makes her feel very ill and dehydrated, making her skin scaley and dry as a result. And thus she constantly needs water to sustain herself. Marina was forced to pretend living as a human while undergoing experiments.

The Legion soon pushed Marina aside as she failed to show fruitful results and deemed a failed creation. Researchers were also not interested in investing in her severely flawed Tiaveth to control it, and left the girl to suffer.

Marina wanting to live as a normal being without suffering and dying tried to search for ways to cure her Tiaveth. It wasn't until she met Pierson, a young growing scientist, that she could get the opportunity to do so. Pretending to be human, Marina stayed by Pierson's side to use him to help fix her 'illness', but eventually fell in love with Pierson as she wished to remain human in his eyes and stay with him.

However Marina's Tiaveth went out of control and turned her into a monster, attacking blindly people in sight. Pierson kills his beloved Marina unknowingly to protect himself, only to find in the end that Marina was an Evaera not a normal human being.
