Jack O' Lantern

Jack O' Lantern is a spirit who takes the form of a humanoid pumpkin monster. As their namesake, they have an appearance reminiscent of a carved jack o' lantern, with glowing eyes and a jagged mouth. Though, they also possess a larger mouth on their stomach and a smaller mouth on each large hand. Their eyes and mouths have a constant glowing light from the burning soul within. They have four dark purple stem-like horns on their head - two large horns with two small ones beneath those. Their entire purple body is smooth, flexible, and hollow with very few bumps. They have light orange to yellow speckles on various parts of their body, including their booty. Their prehensile, stem-like tail is dark purple, usually curling upwards. They sometimes use their tail to carry stuff, like baskets or coat hangers.

Jack always has a few small yellow-speckled purple pumpkins growing on their body. These tend to sprout randomly or sometimes not at all, but Jack is able to grow as much as they want with a bit of magic. The pumpkins can be plucked off and don't cause any harm. In fact, they can double as throwing projectiles!

While their body is very flexible, Jack's hands are still bulky and rather clumsy. They rely on their toes or magic to levitate and carry objects instead.

The eternal flames in Jack's hollow body are a form of soul fire generated from (surprise!) their soul and can reflect their emotions. Normally, their flames don't burn to the touch and may even feel warm. Even when soaked, their flames don't extinguish. They will never fully go out, unless Jack themself dies. (Again, but they prefer not to.)
When Jack is happy, their flames burn brightly and gives off a comforting warmth.
When Jack is calm, their flames burn steadily and feels slightly cold.
When Jack is angry, their flames intensify - sometimes spilling out of their body - and burns to the touch.
When Jack is sad, their flames tend to dim and turn ice cold.
No, Jack can't stop glowing. They're doomed to glow forever.

Jack always carries around their favorite scythe, even when they're not on the job. They usually keep it stashed away with magic and summon it as needed. They rarely hold it with their own hands, though, and usually levitates it around. In battle, the scythe functions as a very wild and scary spinning boomerang.

During Halloween, Jack wears the minimum possible for a costume, often wearing only an eyepatch, a cape, or a hat. They can't be bothered to find a full costume and don't like covering up their stomach or hands.

As a spirit, Jack has magic powers, but they have never shown their full potential. They mainly use their magic to learn and perform harmless tricks. Their main element is unknown but suspected to be either Fire or Light magic, since those are the two elements they're always seen using. They often use magic to levitate their weightless body instead of walking. For more practical uses, they can summon soul fire wisps to light up areas or set stuff on fire.

Because of their connection to Hallow, Jack can use Dark magic powers. They prefer to rely on Hallow's magic instead of their own for jobs. As long as they're in range of each other, Hallow can also buff Jack's spells and cause other effects.

If Jack has a limit to their magic, nobody knows about it. They've been extra careful not to overuse their powers.

Due to their reaper role and otherworldly origins, Jack is naturally immune to being banished and is highly resistant to magic seals - even more so with Hallow present. They also cannot be cursed but cannot be healed either; they regenerate on their own.

• As a spirit, Jack has infinite access to their own form of soul fire and can summon wisps.
• The wisps can be used as harmless light sources or to set things on fire.
• While they normally wouldn't, Jack can also straight up breathe fire or use their other mouths like flamethrowers.

• Being a spirit and weightless, Jack can levitate a few feet off the ground for an infinite amount of time.
• This is their main method of travel, because sometimes they're too lazy to walk.

• Jack can regenerate their body and repair any damaged or missing limbs.

• Jack's demonic pact with Hallow allows them to summon the demon to their side and use their magic as desired.
• They can summon rings of glowing white light that can capture and slice their targets.
• These glowing rings can be set as traps or thrown as projectile weapons.
• While Hallow is present, others may experience horrible hallucinations and nightmares.
  (...but many demons and undead are immune to this effect.)

• Sadly, due to being both undead and not having a natural body, Jack is immune to healing magic.

• Because of their reaper role and otherworldly origins, Jack is immune to capture and banishing spells.
• They are highly resistant to seals due to their link with Hallow.

Jack is a wandering spirit with no memory of his past self. He doesn't even know what he's supposed to be! He's not sure of his real gender, identity, past love life, or even what his favorite food was - if he had any of those, that is. He doesn't have an apparent gender, being a spirit and all, and he doesn't seem to care.

Jack is pretty cheerful for someone who's dead, and he's also extremely witty and playful to boot. He loves to laugh, enjoys making others laugh, and tells a lot of puns. He often plays pranks on people, and he even welcomes pranking back. All of his pranks are harmless and in good fun. He'd never do any prank that'd endanger or hurt the feelings of others; he doesn't like cruel pranks.
Even during battles and tense moments, he still finds time to make quips to his enemies.

He's super chill and spends a lot of time lazing away. He likes to swing around on Hallow's horns using his tail and legs, and, even though he can float, he prefers to ride on Hallow's back.

Jack prefers to remain light-hearted and doesn't take things too seriously. If something bad happens, he'll brush it off in no time and move on; he won't dwell on it. He believes that it's not worth stressing over the past - what's done is done. Instead, he likes to live in the present, so he's not too concerned about figuring out his past.
The only time Jack has been serious is whenever people are in danger or if someone messes with his friends.

He loves giving and recieving hugs, but he's not a fan of people trying to reach into his eyes, mouth, or stomach. It's incredibly rude.

Jack's current name came from everybody calling him "Jack O' Lantern" based on his appearance. It eventually stuck.
He actually goes by many names and titles, such as John Doe, Richard Roe, Cadaver Chad, Boney Bob, Rick Remains, Mort, Departed Dave, Billy Bob Johns, Just Doe It, "the guy at the office", "your friendly neighbor", "your beloved body", etc. (But they all mean "unidentified corpse" in one way or another...)

Jack has found himself in strange company, employed as a reaper and currently the master of a demon named "Hallow." With his trusty demonic companion and his favorite scythe, he goes around behind the scenes collecting lost souls to bring them to the spirit world where they belong. It's an all-year round job with little vacation days, but he takes it in stride.
He's responsible for dealing with people who put too many souls into the afterlife, from mass murderers to powerful demons.

As Hallow's master, he takes full advantage of Hallow's abilities and knows how to use them well. You really don't want to cross him or his demon. If you're an enemy, he won't hold anything back.

His reaper co-workers often treat the job like a business company, using business terms and things like "rain checks." Jack has found himself falling into the formal talk and business lingo when dealing with "customers." (AKA: the really confused souls who don't know what he's talking about.)

During autumn, Jack takes his vacation days and goes to the surface world for the beginning of October. He's more active during this season and stays until November is over.
Halloween is his favorite holiday. He can get away with walking around in broad daylight with a scythe and demon in tow.

Jack doesn't have a house. He's dead. He doesn't need one.

Jack doesn't know anything about their past before they died. They can only vaguely recall having a physical body but cannot even remember their actual gender - if they had one.

Shortly after the mysterious disappearance of the deities, Jack joined the makeshift "reaper" force - a small group of demon hybrids and other strange otherworldy beings alike who were working together to fix the overflow of lost souls around the world. They have been working there long before the collapse of the original angelic hierarchy and the magic towers.

Somewhere in the middle of his job as a reaper, Jack came across a wandering true demon in the plane between life and death. They later formed a pact together, and Jack nicknamed the demon "Hallow." Jack's supervisor didn't exactly approve of them bringing a soul and flesh-eating abomination on board, though.

...but they warmed up to having Hallow around eventually, especially after learning how useful the demon's skills would become to the team.
