Richard is from a noble military family. His family is extremely loyal to the Kaiser, king of Ciar. Due to his upbringing he lived an easy life until he became part of the military; he went to the best military academy and acheived top elite scores. His status didn't help him in the military ranks only skill and connections with the higher rankings. He was a 2nd class officer of a 1st class 1st ranking general (the super best #1 soldier of the entire army). Unlike his expectations, the general was like a cocky prince with his own harem, and tried to bring Richard into his world to follow in his footsteps, as the general saw Richard as a little brother of sorts rather than a rival.
After being fed up, he became a 1st class ranking soldier beating #3 after a few years. However Richard then realized why the #1 soldier had his own harem; it was to fill in the void that came with being a leader of thousands. Friends with rivals didn't exist. Showing a weakness was a downfall. He grew distant and stern yet like his former general in his actions. Even distant from his family as he realized how they were trying to control him and he didn't want to needilessly deal with his family matters of wanting him to marry in a pre-arranged marriage.
He then meets Miyu (under the name of Milly Stratford ) as she becomes one of his 2nd class soldiers and falls for her unknowingly as she seem to be able to manipulate his emotions.
Trivia His mother is the typical mother who likes to show off and spend frivolously. She prearranges Richard's marriage when he was in his younger years to a high class family like them. Richard is not so fond of his mother. However he uses her to buy gifts for girls since he has no idea what to get as he'd never been in a dating sort of relationship
