He was adopted at a early age to wealthy parents that started their hotel after they married some 100 years ago.The hotel became popular with humans who were curious about the alien culture with a mixture of class.From the standpoint Umbris was a quiet and obedient child as well very independent from a young age and a latchkey kid.He rarely saw his parents until late at night or for more than twenty minutes in the morning.He attended a private school that was mostly human.He was seen but never heard,his parents didn't want to hear his problems especially when they came home.He often cooked for himself (in the microwave).Unlike most Detorans that lived in the city he refused to surgically have his horns removed or filed down.The reasons of course disliking hospitals and the second to get his  parents attention,that never worked.

One day while leaving school a couple of students started taunting him,not wanting to fight the bullies he proceeded to run off and hide.Upon attempting to hide he came across the coast that held a giant vault.He almost felt sucked in by the sight alone,he had never seen anything related Detoran religion.Being careful he left he vault running into  the bullies who took his backpack and challenged him to a fight against them all.It wasn't fair at all,he managed to scratch a boy but just barely but enough to cover his claws with blood.He snarled back feeling confidence until one of the three boys push him into the stormy water.He was swept out gasping for air only to swallow more water.In order to at least try to float he let go of his backpack.


It was a fisherman who saved him and was taken to their home since they lived far from the city.Umbris awoke to an elderly couple with concerned faces.It was them who saved him,which was explained after his breakdown.They fed him and took him home however,it was decided that Umbris wanted to help them.The couple wasn't poor the catches made them live very well in their old home but he wanted to help around the home and also have a listening ear and he did for the next fifteen years.

In between those years after being bought back home he had dealt with a lot of trouble seeing as the fight set him up to look like he started it.He lost his  right eye,though he could have it replaced with a cybernetic he refused surgery and wears an eyepatch.He was sent to live with his uncle for six months so his parents could avoid any Detoran/human conflicts since the boy's family aimed to sue them.

Time went on and he attended college for a graphic design degree and minor in journalism which he used for writing drafts for his book.Overtime things became heavy and abandoned the idea of writing and marketing graphic design in turn to working under his parents for their hotel. They visited each other and had online calls to keep in contact.Eventually,after being together Umbris makes the move to ask Spirus to become his mate.Umbris is clingy he knows and has neglect issues which Umbris wishes in some way could be closure.His fallout with his parents pushed him away to live with Spirus and his family until he could get a condo.

Umbris is very curious and lacks most knowledge of being a Detoran,their vacations are usually in Pinesborough or away from the center of Amberfield.
