Actually, I was a year late to my school's own program because when they initially gave us this musical aptitude test I failed it miserably-- not because I was tone deaf, I just I filled the scan-o-tron thing in wrong OTL it wasn't til the folowing year when they had us retake the test that they decreed me promising enough to add to the music program. Though honestly clarinet did little to spark my passion-- I only ended up playing half-heartedly for about two years, and didn't continue with it when I reached highschool. It's only now that I'm older that I've come back to music as a whole! Self-directed study has been good for me, I think.

Haha, that's understandable too, missing out on a widely-shared mediocre experience is weird feeling. But true, guess the only way to look is forward :p
As for your musical patience... never say never! Maybe one day? ...But then again, it's cool if musicianship isn't for you either. Whatever floats your boat is valid, it doesn't have to be music, just as long as you're having fun !
