"Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. :)"
Smiley's voice was a calm hiss, yet it somehow was audible over the roar of his weed whacker.
"Two wonderful people with not-so-wonderful frowns on their wonderful faces. :) Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. :)"
He lumbered towards Ran first, not seeming fazed in the slightest by the sword, partly because of the blood-stained paper bag covering his face. The smiley face drawn on it seemed almost wider up close. "You can't go around calling people stinky and grumpy. No, no, no. :) That's not what friends do. That's not what nice people do. :) That's not fun. People can't be happy when you don't give them any fun. :)" He tilted his head. "I know a young one your age. :) He's very fun. He observes people. :) He gives them comments that make them happy. :) Have you made a single person happy? :)"
He tilted his head back to look at Maribelle. "And you. :)" he hummed. "Never happy, never smiling. Always speaking from anger and sadness. :) Such negative emotions. :) They're so strong around you. They wrap, wrap, wrap you up. :) Have you ever smiled once? :) Have you ever once been happy for an entire day? :) Have you, have you? :)"
Gripping his machine tighter, Smiley tilted his head down to be able to see the two at the same time. "It's okay, it's okay. I forgive you both. :) Happiness can be so, so difficult, can't it? I know, I know. :) So I'll help you! :) Let's play a few games. They'll have you both cheering and beaming in no time. :) How exciting! It is, it is! :) Let's start with hide-and-seek. :)"
