Write a physical description for the above OC

Posted 6 years, 7 months ago (Edited 6 years, 7 months ago) by ElithianFox

This is a bit of an experimental thread and I'm not sure if people will be interested in it, but it sounded fun so let's see how it goes!

You most likely have a vision of how you see your OCs which might strongly differ from others' vision of your characters. Some things that are obvious to you may not be obvious to others, and vice versa, so seeing what others notice most about your character can be an interesting read.

In this thread, you write a description of another person's character in your own style and vision.

Rules and guidelines

▶︎ Claim IC as the OC you'd like described before editing your post! That way you don't get ninja'd.

▶︎ Stay civil, don't insult the character or go beyond playful joking and IC judgment.

▶︎ Only use characters who have at least knee-up artwork! You can specify if only some artwork in their gallery is to be used for the description and to add design notes in your claim.

▶︎ I hate imposing minimums, but please write at least four sentences, preferably at least a decent paragraph. You can go all in and write as much as you wish for the upper limit.

▶︎ Up to you if you write something down to earth, something more literary, or a mix. You can even make your OC describe them!

▶︎ Posting in this thread gives the person you're writing for permission to use your description, if clearly credited.

▶︎ You can structure your description however you wish, no guidelines. But if you don't know what to write, here are some ideas:

▸Body: age; height, weight, and their relation to the character's fat and muscle distribution; shoulder, chest, waist, and hip ratio; notable scars, freckles, tattoos, and markings; body hair and/or fur; bodily health and cleanliness; extra or missing appendages; other notable features; poses, posture, and the story they tell through them.

Face: details about the nose (length, bridge, tip); eyes (shape, colours); jawline; mouth and teeth; facial hair and (eye)brows; ears; facial markings and tattoos; jewellery and piercings; resting and prominent expressions and demeanour you can tell from their art as well as the personality and attitude it radiates

▸Hair: style, colour, length, texture, highlights, cleanliness, care taken for it.

▸Clothing: prominent pieces of clothing worn; layers that are visibly worn above each other; fashion style and time period; personal style intertwined into it; weather they're dressed for; class; care for looks.

▸Other things: magic used; special objects they have with them; special effects like a glitch.

Some examples

(Using my guy Florence for the examples)

Down to earth description

"This man - named Florence, I've heard - is a small athletic built demon. He dresses for the cold, meaning that above his green wool shirt with olive markings, his green wool trousers, and that light brown battleskirt he wears around the waist, he also wears some equally thick pieces. A long sleeved shirt, the body is dark green and the sleeves are a lighter green in colour; a sturdy black leather tunic, its elegance coming from the horizontal layers of the leather and the metal parts that decorate the shoulders of the piece as well as the two insignias on the chest area; a dark green wool overshirt over the leather, and a thick cloak draped over his shoulders.

What is most notable about him isn't his clothing, but his face and his actions. He looks a bit older thanks to his goatee and prominent bags under his emerald eyes, but his round face looks more fitting for a younger teen. Long brown hair that's well taken care of partially covers his pointed ears, which together with his short black horns and a tail that ends in an arrowhead gives away his species. Should he take off his many layers, it'd be visible that he has well built arms and shoulders."

Literary description

"In front of me I see a young demon with a worn out face and a lot of layers to his clothing. Looks like he just got out of a blizzard, but I don't remember it being that cold outside. He must be tired judging by the bags under his green eyes and the slight annoyance to the tone of his voice. He keeps on his cloak despite being inside. Combined with his chestpiece, his overshirt, the pelt wrapped around his waist, those green wool trousers, and the thick leather boots, he looks like he's not far away from a heat stroke.

He looks rich, a little pretentious, judging from the leather and metal composition of the chestpiece under his cloak and overshirt that he refuses to take off. I've seen him pass a ball of light between both gloved hands in his time I've been observing him. He doesn't seem all too scared to use forbidden magic, and despite his height he stands proud and mighty, like he's above anyone he meets here."

"The strange man before me, who calls himself Usa - I mistook him for a young child at first, seeing as he looks oddly frail for a grown man, with a rather petite frame, too. His build made the strange plush toy in his hands look large in comparison - or maybe it was large, I couldn't tell without a closer look at it, and something was telling me that that idea would not be a very good one. Usa was strangely intimidating for somebody his size. He wore a plain coat with a strange hood, as if to mimic rabbit ears - nevertheless, it suited him well, even if it did drape over him because of the size. His eyes were the most notable feature; a striking scarlet red, to match the button eyes of the plush - crudely stitched, but it was oddly cute. Usa's pale complexion struck me, too - pale enough to match his lily white hair, and pale enough to make him look sickly. It was difficult to tell if this was the case, though - his facial mask - which, might I add, had a rather sinister grin stitched into it - covered most of his face, and what was left uncovered was mostly framed by his hair, which looked quite soft, and well looked after.

This man seemed to be approachable, but at a cost."

//eeee i love ur description of her!! you make her sound so cool =v=

"The unfamiliar woman is dressed in all black, like a crow, and I can't help but think of the way she carries herself has the certain kind of gloominess people associate with these birds. She is taller than I am, 10cm or so, with well-fitting and formal-looking black clothes. Black as the night, her hair is long and messy, hair strands sticking out here and there as if she had just woken up, or perhaps simply doesn't care for a tidy and orderly appearance.

Her skin and even eyes are almost eerily pale, striking a clear contrast between her otherwise dark colour scheme; I hardly doubt she is an undead of any sort, but the way her hair and clothes frame her skin she looks almost otherworldly - and very tired, as if she has seen more than she should have (a part of me is curious to know just what her story is, but I know it's not my place to ask that, nor would I even know how to approach her).

Dark hair is covering her right eye entirely, but from the corner I can see something darker than her skin; I have a feeling she is deliberately trying to hide something underneath, and I feel guilty for being curious of what it is..."

Barwyn Cleo Mochagatari

"The boy--pretty sure he's still a boy, he looked pretty childlike--stood there, gazing at me expectantly. I had to say, he certainly looked like a noble: clean and expensive, but not flashy at all--modest would probably sound better. His skin was light and smooth but it wasn't pale, and it was actually red and pinkish in some spots, like his hands and knees. There wasn't a blemish to be seen on it except for the mole beneath his right eye. His clothes reminded me of a character from a period piece: white and deep red, a smooth button-up dress shirt with a loose tie that formed a bow at his neck, shorts with cuffs and suspenders, white socks and brown laced boots. Even the short, neat golden-brown hair that framed his face was adorned with red rose ornaments--I couldn't tell if they were real, but it somehow wouldn't surprise me if they were. His face was an oval and lightly dusted with freckles, but what caught me was his eyes--they were narrow and very green, almost as green as mine, but they had a certain, mysterious coldness behind them that immediately sent me trembling."

Note about mine: He has a lot of images, including a fullbody ref sheet so feel free to look around.  (He has a NSFW Tab as well just fti)

The man is small, nervous looking. He is constently shifting his gaze, eyes never focusing to long on one thing while he tries to take in his enviorment.  He wears a loose sweater, forest green and at least one size to large, the hem fraying a little from constent picking.  His black vest matches his hair, though the former is carefully straighened and the latter a puffy mess.  The most noticable feature, the long green reptilian tail, pokes out from loose fitting brown pants.  It seems far to small to support any weight, though it appears felxible and one wonders if it can easily grab and manipulate things.  Perhaps to carry books and other academic material as his general apperance strongly reflects that of a scolar.  His shoes are simple, sensible, easy to move in.  His glasses are thin framed, clearly an item of use and not fashion.  In fact his entire appearence, from the messy hair to the sensible shoes, speaks of someone who has far more important things to do then worry over wether or not his particular outfit is that of the current fashion.

Athauror tori34

The young, dainty creature before him looked young.  Bright blue eyes stared back, wide and curious.  Large, furry ears twitched on either side of the head and two, small horns extended from the forehead, as if this was some devil.  One, two and three furry tails swished back and forth, like a dog's.  To round off this odd combination of creature and humanoid, leathery bat-like wings could be seen sitting on the creature's back.  The creature's body was relaxed, hands moving back and forth along the various pieces of black leather that adorned its body...

His pants are black and baggy  cover both of his legs going  to  his shoes that look to  be nothing  more then a piece of leather to  protect his feet, possibly to make sure he was quick ad light on his feet.

 Ryo Takahashi unused-account

Ryo knows what a completely insane person looks like, and this man was a textbook example. His smile was just a little too wide and toothy, his eyes sparkling in a destructive way, searching for chaos. He was lanky, rather snakelike. His movements were extravagant, like he was preforming a show. His outfit was rather distinct, centering around a vest and a striped scarf. He got the feeling he rarely wore anything else. His hair was golden, tied into a messy ponytail, and he had some scraggly facial hair. The strangest thing was his pointed ears and lion-like tail, which made it very clear he wasn't human.

Maverick Dohmalore

The things that stand out most about him are the eyepatch, knife, and fwippy hair.  He has the vibe of an edgy character made by a 15 year old to explore darker concepts.  Not that that's really a bad thing!  I know I made a few & still have them & it's a quality I personally find attractive about characters, just the quirky, fucked up, murder-isn't-even-a-notable-part-of-my-daily-life type of frantic weirdo.  His design telegraphs his personality extremely effectively, he looks exactly like the yandere schoolboy he is.

I really like the heart on the eyepatch though, I imagine symbolic of how important love is to him as well as an outward indicator of his suffering?  It makes him cuter, softer, where a plain eyepatch would make him look colder & more actively edgy rather than having the edginess be more of a meta thing?  Like yes he will stab you but he also probably cries over romantic movies/love songs & has a plushie collection.

Other cute things: that fluffy fwippy hair & just how fuckin tiny he is.  Very childlike appearance, makes him look like he's got a lot of growing up to do just to catch up emotionally/maturity-wise with his peers?  (I leave out physically just because he looks like he'd exist more in a shojo/horror genre than a shonen storyline where physical ability tends to be more important?)  He looks like someone who has a lot of potential & if he were taller/less blatantly young-looking I feel like he'd exude a much more 'im gonna be either dead or in prison within the next 5 years' vibe.  Which I mean he still kinda does have that, but I'm leaning more towards hoping he lives long enough to regret things that happened in this phase of his life + move towards happiness & recovery...?

Cyrus Bell Caine

// Cyrus literally doesn't have the correct words to describe Comet because of the time he comes from, but he is trying very hard

This person looks nothing like I have ever seen before, to be honest. Or, I suppose, their clothing is understandable enough, albeit not something I have ever seen people wearing: a warm-looking, blue-purple-something shirt with a hood on it, simple and dully coloured brown pants and dark, very simple boots. It's easy to tell whoever this person is, they're not from here; nobody dresses like this around here, and I'm not sure if they dress like this anywhere else. But their clothes aren't what catch my attention by any means; the only reason I listed them was they're the only things I can comprehend without feeling itchy in my brain.

From where the trouser's hem ends and where boots start I can see metal glimmering in the sun, as if they were a machine (of course that makes no sense, machines are large, heavy and in no way capable of operating without at least three people's constant aid), and on their head there is a black something. I'd say it's a helmet of some sort, maybe, but the fact it's literally floating above them with no neck makes me very much inclined to say it's something else, and also tells me I should probably stop hiding in the bushes while staring at them, and instead run away right now

But the helmet makes me curious because there is something moving on the surface of it, like some sort of wave currently flashing in light blue (but I swear I saw it being grey just moments ago). The movement of the wave is calming, if not almost hypnotic, and I need to force myself to look away from it. There is also something attached to the helmet-thing-whatever, like ear mufflers, but made of some sort of metal, and also flashing in the same colour as the constantly moving wave.

There is no way this person is a human, I think, even if they do have an otherwise very human build not all that different from my own, actually.

Renne Araa HeroofEnelios

(Note about her: She has many images in her gallery, including full body artwork)

"What a peculiar boy..." Renne mused as she watched the young individual from afar. Even from where she stood, it was easy to see how short in stature he was. Considerably smaller than she was, and slightly scrawny. His hair was creamy white, and poofy in appearance. In a way, it was similar to some of the canine creatures  she had seen before, and slightly long as well. She watched him walk around, and noticed his amber colored eyes were vigilant, in stark contrast to the frown on his face.  She also found it curious how remarkably girl-like his face was, with long eyelashes, soft features and glossy red lips. From the way he carried himself, it was difficult to tell just what kind of a person he was.

So caught up in her curiosity, she nearly got caught staring when the boy started to turn, so she quickly averted her gaze  elsewhere for an instant. She waited, then turned back to try and get a better look.

Those clothes...  she momentarily lost herself again, her gaze trained on the boy's iuniform. They were simplistic, almost nostalgic. The noble wondered where they could be from, but she theorized it was possible a school uniform, based on the semi-formal appearance. For a moment, she caught him conversing with a few citizens in the street, and in that moment she thought she saw a small, but bright smile on his face. It was gentle, and friendly, and for a moment appeared familiar to the noble, but as fast as the boy she was observing had appeared, he quickly disappeared back into the crowd, leaving behind a very befuddled noble.

Keia Coldhill unused-account

She was a very lovely girl. Her face was well formed, pretty, pale, and rosy, and her eyes were a blue more pure than the sky. Her hair was the same, long and aqua-colored, which was very unusual in Keia's eyes. Putting that aside, she looked to be in her late teens, and was rather physically mature. She wore a strange white dress with blue trim, matched by matching gloves and boots that were reminicent of armor, but showed her sides and shoulders, which struck her as impractical. At her side was a sword with a decorated hilt. Her mannerisms were graceful and precise, suggesting she was a person of status. She suspected she was a magic user like herself, but she couldn't be too sure.

Lavandé Tribal CaptainRobi

"What is this female?" The boy perched over with concern.

"There's something really disturbing from her aura, as if she is an innocent young woman but harbouring a sleeping dragon within, ready to destroy anyone who disturbs it slumber. Perhaps I should come say hi? But my karma says no, so I should rather keep my distance if I want to avoid turning this confrontation to bloodshed.

From the looks, with those icy silver eyes, the all forboding black clothes and a glimmering half moon amulet...I think this should be father's concern if she ever decides to inflict harm on anyone."
