I've been working on these guys for a few months and I think I'm finally ready to get some feedback on them/start seeing if anyone's interested. I don't have any really nice, completed visual guides or anything like that, but I think there's enough information here if anyone wants to make their own. I'm always happy to answer questions and take feedback, too!
This is just me throwing a bunch of info and ideas out there, but if people are interested I'll be looking into making a world/masterlist and making more adoptables of them myself. I'd be thrilled if enough people liked it that we could make a community for rp and stuff but??? We'll see I guess!
ARCANIGHTS
Arcanights are magically created artificial beings who's souls are bound to tarot cards. They act as guides and guardians, bonding to one human and devoting their existence to helping their chosen partner in achieving their goals.

All of the information and lore provided pertains to Minor Arcanights -- Arcanights who are born from cards of the minor arcana in the tarot. Anyone is free to make their own Minor Arcanight!
You can make Minor Arcanights for yourself or a friend, but you cannot sell Arcanights as adoptables!
I haven't decided what to do about the major arcana yet (the fool, the magician, etc.), but I feel that they'll be much rarer and distinct visually from any Minor Arcanights. I'm also unsure about making distinctions for court cards in the minor arcana (Pages, Knights, Queens, and Kings), so I'll ask that you refrain from making those until proper guidelines for them can be made. Court cards and the Major Arcana are the equivalent of uncommon and rare variations of the species, so they will be different visually. I'm just not sure how yet -- if anyone has any suggestions or ideas or anything like that, please tell me about them!

Update: The Arcanight species weebly is up! It took me a bit to consolidate all the information, and there are probably still some things that are vague, but I hope it helps. Questions and suggestions are still welcome as always! I'll work on getting a masterlist made next as well.
I also plan on putting up the first adopt some time tomorrow, since the first of a month seems like a good time. Here's a small tiny preview wow

Saw your adopt in the design forum and just had to scoot in here to let you know I love the idea for this species so much ;u; Metals and tarot are two pretty big interests of mine and the lore of them being guardian/guiding spirits too just hits a lot of really good points with me haha. I'd love to see how the species develops and grows, I went through the weebly and they sound so lovely ;u;
If you ever did open up customs for the higher suits I'd love to be notified as well! Especially if I could get the opportunity to have one based on the Hanged Man.,, that card in particular holds a lot of significance for me and I'd love to have a character tied in with it ;u;
What's your stance on having an arcanight that's based on a personal oc though? Would that be allowed or would you prefer them to be 100% original with no outside influences like that?

I know the Major Arcana in particular are pretty appealing in general, and I'm looking forward to designing some. The Hanged Man is an interesting one!
I think it'd be fine to have an arcanight based on an already existing OC, sure! I know when I look at other species, flexibility is always a big plus, and I'd like for people to feel like they have a lot of freedom to make their own stories and that sort of thing. o/
Yeah I just love the symbolism that tarot has as a whole and the way its all depicted in the cards... ;u; I've had to look up a bunch of different decks lately because of one of my assignments and its just kinda reawakened my love for it all ffb. But please do notify me when you get it up and running! I'd love to commission you for a wee bean if I can :>
I figure with the higher suits they'd sortof have more responsibility tied to them due to their meaning in the cards and the whole guardian thing? I mean obviously all that backstory stuff depends on the owners but I eat that stuff right up and I'd love to hear more as you develop the higher suits and any arcanights that come with that detailed backstory stuff haha

coffeebean AGh I just saw this! But yeah, I imagine that the higher suits definitely have a bit more gravitas to them, especially the Major ones. I wasn't sure if people would be interested in seeing arcanights with established backstories, but I'll try that out for some of the next ones! Since they can be quite old I'm sure lots of them have pretty storied histories, and that would be fun to write out. c: Especially for cards with damage and things like that!

A person could own more than one card, probably up to two max, but that would be an unusual circumstance. It's definitely possible, but not something that happens all the time, you know? If you'd like to do that I say go for it!
You can make as many as you like! I'd love to see them if you make any.
It's not a requirement or anything, but I think it's fun to think about the humans they're bonded to. Since they act as guardians, whoever they're bonded to could be a pretty large aspect of an arcanight's character. I'm working on that for my own, myself!
