Profile
Yvette is the older daughter of the Blackborne family. She's proficient in different martial arts, yet her other hobbies are kind of a mystery. There's a definite tension between her and her family over her upbringing, her identity and her personality.
Yvette is an outspoken but refined woman who can also cut harshly with her words. She tends to show all her emotions on her face even when she tries not to. Her personality is a result of an internal struggle against defensive mechanisms from trauma vs her own strong personality and identity and need for boundaries. With no inherent magical abilities to speak of in a family full of magic users, she is usually singled out or ignored depending on the situation. She also has intense interest for entomology, medical veterinary science and biology, but can't stand the sight of blood.
Yvette is also exclusively attracted to women and has a longing to express herself more through her appearance, but her conservative family makes it hard for her to express herself authentically. She rejects any suitors her family tries to arrange for her, or gets them to reject her instead. She wants to retain her freedom but cannot do so while dependent on her family.

Trivia
Yvette and Woltze's mother is from a foreign country of nonmagic users, where their father married her and brought her back to Chiron. The Blackbornes have achieved good public opinion through their revolution victories as well as their contributions to medical science, and the majority of native Chiron inhabitants support the family and have nothing bad to say about them. However, in the family is a cycle of abuse and in Yvette's case, scapegoating. When Yvette was born and starting to grow, her father, already disappointed because he wanted a son, quickly realized she had no magical ability and therefore was unfit to inherit Tower, a magical artifact that was implanted in the eye. When Woltze was born, after demonstrating magical ability he was picked to inherit Tower despite being younger.
Yvette was raised strictly into a "proper" young lady by her insane great aunt Caroline. They both resent each other and have blowout arguments regularly. She resents the majority of her family for their failures in her upbringing and has been trying to make plans to escape, but fears being disowned even as she can't stand her family.
Nadine is the architectural garden artist of the Blackborne estate. She comes from the country of Myrmia, which is renowned as a haven for artists, architects and other arts oriented professionals. She graduated from a notorious architectural college and came to Chiron looking for work, and the Blackborne estate hired her. She has the ability to sculpt and grow plants as she needs them to. Working at the estate, she and Yvette met and started a friendship. However, over time, this friendship turned into romantic feelings, and they started a relationship for a long while.
However, the pressure from Yvette's family possibly finding out was too strong, so they had to stop meeting up so often in order to hide their involvement. Nadine also has issues with Yvette's angry outbursts, and wants Yvette to figure out a way to get help to process everything that's happened before they get together again. So, as of the beginning of the story, Yvette is seeking a way to rescue herself and Nadine from her family's influence.
