Present day
Beatrix is a barista at her local chain coffee shop and also a fashion design student at a community college. She lives with her girlfriend Vee and her childhood best friend Echo in a relatively large city near her hometown, though she hopes to move to a major city on either coast to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer. She collects tea, both loose leaf and in bags, and is attempting to grow her own
She wears a lot of alternative styles, particularly gothic lolita fashion or other similarly frilly styles with a gothic or punk-ish twist. She prefers dark colors, but occasionally wears a pop of lighter colors.
History
Bea was adopted from the Philippines by her WASP parents when she was about two. Her parents never bothered to teach her about her culture, leaving her without that connection. Though they took good care of her and provided her with all that she needed growing up, they were never particularly emotionally involved, so they never formed a particularly strong bond. When she was about six, she met Echo at school, and the two immediately bonded, and are still friends to this day.
When Bea was in middle school, she was diagnosed with both ADHD and ASD, which caused her parents to see her as a victim of her own neurology. This strained their relationship, as Bea didn't share their view of her. During this time, her relationship with Echo deepened. Both had unsupportive parents and both were recently diagnosed with disabilities. They dated for a very brief time before mutually deciding they'd make better friends than lovers. Middle school was also when bea developed her interest for lolita fashion and fashion design in general, as she spent a lot of time on the internet and found information about it through the internet.
In high school, when Bea was about sixteen, she and Vee started dating. They were both in their school's art club, and they quickly became friends and fell in love with each other. When Bea learned that Vee was couch surfing, she convinced her parents to let her stay with them indefinitely.
Bea's parents wanted her to pursue a lucrative career, but Bea vehemently refused, stating that she wanted to major in fashion design. An argument exploded, where all of Bea's frustration with her parents' that she'd been bottling up came out. After Bea graduated and moved out to the city, they mutually cut contact.
Bea moved to the big city near her hometown with Vee and Echo, and the three found an apartment to live in together.
Personality
Bea is quiet until a topic of interest to her is brought up. She can talk your ear off about many topics, but especially fashion, tea, and politics. She is very strongly left-leaning. She can come off as a bit cold, because she's not the best at displaying facial expressions, but she feels emotions very powerfully. She is very empathetic, even towards inanimate things, particularly plushies and figurines. Though she's easily overwhelmed by people and is very introverted, she loves people when she has the energy to spare.
