Jan leads a small group of thieves on the outskirts of a desert country.

character notes:

Jan's hometown is a very small village on the coast.
Father (a builder) and mother (a fisherwoman) died of illness.
Has a slight obsession with death and the dead (persons, animals, plants...).
More familiar than the average person with alchemy and medicine.

Prefers to listen, but will pipe up at odd moments with some insight.
His advice is often confusing and long-winded.
Has the tendancy to sit very still, silent, and unblinking when listening to someone.
Generally goes un-noticed in a corner until he decides to interject into the conversation.

Usually appears quite calm and collected, but he has trouble expressing his emotions clearly.
Instead of talking, he'll either vanish to some corner or lock himself in his room to work on pottery.
Has been known to throw things at people who interfere when he's particularly upset.
Fusses over everything-- then pretends he woke up like this and the plan worked out by dumb luck.

design notes:

Short but compact body type-- he's stronger than he looks.
Eyeliner in black or gold. Usually very simple, but has been known to lay it on thick (1)(2)(3).
He wears his mid-back length hair up, usually in some form of braid or bun.
Both ears are pierced, but he only wears a snake fang pendant on the right.
He has a bit of stubble, usually along the lines of a chin strap to a goatee.
A habit of over-accessorizing-- will pile on the jewelry unless Martin stops him.
Strongly dislikes shoes.
