Summary
A cat experienced in surviving the world, Kat has spent much of his life alone - And he was perfectly comfortable staying that way. He had no urge to seek out other cats, or other humans, or even a fox or bird or other animal to join him; his solitary life wasn't always easy, and there were times when it was lonely, despite his disinterest in companionship, but it was generally quiet and peaceful.
Until, that is, he met Beatrix. He had found her scared and alone, just a kitten, and she cried to him about the life she'd lost, how overwhelming everything suddenly was, how there had to be a mistake, how she had to get back to her human friend. And he couldn't help but feel bad for the child, hearing her tale. A cat so young, without any experience surviving in the world...
What sort of cat would he be to leave her alone?
And so he told her that they would go together. He would teach her to hunt, to survive. And they would find her home again.
Thus the Wayfarers was formed.
Trivia
- Kat had no name prior to meeting Beatrix, having spent so much of his life alone that he never had or needed one - When she asked what to call him, his only response was an awkward, "I'm... I'm cat?" which Beatrix interpreted as his actual name. He doesn't quite understand it, but he's taken it willingly.
- Kat is a Maine Coon, making him noticeably larger than the other feline members of the Wayfarers - Between his size and experience, he's easily the powerhouse of the group.
- Kat always had a naturally lighter underside, muzzle, and paws, but his fur has begun lightening and greying with age - Most noticeably those lighter sections, as well as a spot on his back.
