Summary
There are gods in the worlds. One of them walks among the Wayfarers now, they of rebirth and of balance. And there are mortals in the worlds, living their normal lives and striving for their normal goals in what time they have.
And then... there are those who fall somewhere in between.
Amara is a disciple of the dragon god of time, the one who summoned Berkeley into their new role after the deities of life and death warred themselves into their graves. She's spent as long as she can remember training underneath it, in the hopes that, should the dragon ever fall, as the gods of life and death did, and as did countless others before them, she might be chosen as its successor. Some months after the new gods were brought into the worlds, she was sent off to continue her training alongside one of them, to learn more of the different realms firsthand, and to help guide the young deity in their new role.
She doesn't like to acknowledge it, but she fears that this mission is nothing but an excuse to send her away. For she suspects that the time god has already chosen a successor...
...and they are not her.
Trivia
- Amara's scale growths, glowing eyes, and wyvern companion were gifted to her by the dragon god itself: Her scales as a symbol of its mentorship, and her eyes and dragon as a manifestation of the abilities it granted her as a child - The ability to manipulate light itself. She's still not the most skilled with these powers, but she's trying her best to master them so that she can be deemed a worthy successor to the god.
- Though it behaves like a normal living creature when not being commanded by her, Amara's wyvern is not a fully sentient being on its own, but rather a sort of automaton formed of solidified light magic - She's able to summon and disperse it at will, and is able to access the memories it holds from its time in the worlds whenever she calls it back. It's also pleasantly warm to the touch.
- On a meta level, Amara's story and design were inspired by the dragon god who appeared in the final prompt of Summer 2020's Journey to the Trinity Tree event, as well as the existence of a single Time God Edit in the store. Her fears that another has already been chosen as the deity's successor were developed in reference to said edit not being the source of her own edits and powers - Rather, she bears a Tail Edit, Glowing Eye Edit, and Dragon's Blessing.
