These are the bodies of purifier angels that wander Purgatory in search of powerful souls to take back with them to Heaven (and then turn them into angels)
They settle for no less than the strongest souls they can find, albeit often times the strongest souls are the most fragile and easily wounded, but if their enemies are unable to so much as touch them, then does it actually matter?
Purifier angels are much like Torture Demons. They will scour the black and speckled waters of purgatory for their next creation.
Their way of creation is not necessarily as torturous as a demon's creation over a soul is considered, but this is only because most angels have their pain receptors and fear emotions removed early on in the process - as too much pain/fear on a fragile soul will make it bend and break, ruining it. Sometimes those receptors are never returned, and this can create very emotionless individuals and evidently create a society of hoity toity sociopaths... ahem.
Design Details:
- purifier angels do not necessarily have hands (some do, depending on the date they were made ((different era different designs etc.), they have hollow arm stumps, at the end of each arm is a hole where the cords that they use to wrap around the souls they discover in purgatory, and take them with them to Heaven.
Because Angels still have full access to portal gates in their society, (they didn't abuse and break them like the Fire Kings did in Hell... way to go, guys), many angels have life realm parts installed in their body, such as metallic elements, water elements, nature elements, right down to technology from various life realms (much like our own). Though they might not use them in the ways intended, their bodies can sometimes take a very mechanical infused approach because of this.
As Angels pick and choose the strongest of souls when they are made, they are able to emit such a brilliant glow, some various in colours, but the glow can reach almost blinding light when they use their strengths, enough to physically blind a living person (or demon) who gazes upon them in this state. Yes they use this to their advantage. Especially when fighting a torture demon in purgatory for a soul they both found at the same time.
** When an untouched soul in purgatory has used magic heavily in it's previous lives, or has stronger properties in it's mortal soul in general, they are known to become an accidental beacon in the darkness of purgatory, which will draw the attention of purifier angels and torture demons alike, to their presence. It's a race to see who gets such a soul, and more often than naught it will be a torture demon (as more of them exist than purifier angels do).
- however, a powerful soul is a fragile soul, especially in its unfinished and unwarped state, and it is unlikely for the person to survive the 'warping' process of being turned into an angel or demon. This entirely depends on the delicacy and skill of the creator that is working on them.

Whorker... not so much. the poor boy sucks at his job and you'll probably just D Double Die. ((he went to the life realm for a reason, damn it! he needed a vacation from all the death and destruction... why do you think he's become a doctor now? YEAH, career change baby!))
- Angels in general have a very uniformed look, many of them simply appear human, but the more powerful and higher ranking the angel (such as purifier angels being at the very top of the food chain) - their appearances can have an otherworldly, almost godlike appearance.
Other info:
- often times Purifier Angels will work in groups of 3 or more. This aids them when they encounter an obstacle or object of interest, like a Torture Demon while in purgatory.
How are purifier angels created, you didn't know you needed to ask? well great, cuz I'll tell you -
Torture demons!
Yes, Purifier Angels, on their day job, search for mortal souls that have been untouched by the death realms. They will create angels of all types from these souls, but at the end of the day, they cannot create other purifier angels (unless under extremely unusual circumstances...)
To create a Purifier angel they must snatch a torture demon out of Hell if they are lucky enough to find one of their hidey holes that they crawl into after finding a soul to work on. or they simply find them wandering purgatory searching for their own muses. This is another reason these angels work in units of 3 or more, because Torture Demons are extremely difficult to catch and find. They are a very secluded creature and don't show themselves to anyone but those that they work on. (kind of hard to exist happily out in the open when half the demon world and a handful of psychotic angels want the power you hold).
(Torture demons actually call THEMSELVES 'Creators' and get annoyed when you call them a 'Torture' Demon (but everyone and their cat ignores this and just calls them torture demons, because what they do hUrTs people and they don't LIKE it and think its a better name for them. They get defensive and are like "come onnn guys, you don't call Purifier Angels 'Torture Angels', so why you gotta be so mean to us? It's cuz we're demons, isn't it??? ISN'T IT? no respect." -sigh-)
Anyway, the difficulty of creating a Purifier Angel doesn't end there. They must then reverse the corrupt soul of a Torture Demon through various methods of magics and the like, to bring the soul to a malleable state, in order to even begin the process of creating one of their own.
Example:
An artist draws a picture of a cat and puts it up on the wall.
Some dude runs by and rips the drawing off the wall. Then takes an eraser and scrubs away at the paper until there's hardly any lines left and proceeds to draw a dog. :D
Some more things to note (I dunno where to put this yet, so it's going in this character... god this place is an info dump, what happened?)
- Heaven society is much more advanced in terms of technology than Hell is, however it is really only because the Angels have procured such technology from various life realms, using it to fuel their own world. At Heaven's base core, it is very much similar to Hell: a realm of the dead.
At the end of the day, without the stolen technology and water that brings life to their death realm, Heaven is as dark, twisted, and bleak as Hell, society and environmentally.
- The way Heaven treats its citizens however, is very controlling, while Hell is fairly lawless (outside of a Fire King's rule, anyway). Heaven society will designate what you do with your eternal existence and assigns everyone a job/purpose/location, regardless of your soul strength (however angels are very picky when they create angels from human souls. they will only choose the fanciest/strongest of souls to turn into angels. with this said, there are far less angels than there are demons, but the angels in turn are particularly stronger on a wider scale than most of the demons in Hell). So long as you do good to others in Heaven society, do your job that is expected of you, do not question authority, you will be treated well and exist in happiness. Just be sure to follow the rules.
Hell on the other hand will let you do whatever the fuck you want and the world is open to travel as far as you wish... to some degree anyway- for if one's eternal soul is on the weaker side, and there is always someone stronger out there... one can expect to be abused and exploited by those stronger than them should they let their guard down. Hell can be a land of pleasure and thrills, but for many, it is quite literally, Hell.
Which society would you want to live in for the rest of your existence? Not many get the choice of the matter...
