Background.

Polaris' background has remained somewhat of a mystery to the party, only having engaged in bits and pieces of his history. It is known that at some point, he was very close companions with a prominent figure in Glacean nobility, Xuka Quellings, before their paths diverged.

Beyond that, there is a large gap until his (alleged) "kidnapping" of the Glacean Princess, Evor Ridel. Under the pseudonyms of Diaval Dazzler and Little MisFortune, aka Evelyn, the two performed a traveling stage show of various talents before their luck caught up with them, forcing the two & their giant goat Truffles to evacuate Glacea. Somewhere along the road, they met Moo, and the three quickly formed a close bond on their way to Bramburgh, the capital city of Eshana.

The events of the campaign begin here. Perhaps more will be revealed as the party inquires~.

  • Covered in constellation-like markings
  • Has geometric & celestial body-inspired tattoos that fill in some of the constellations
  • Large scar across face, does not impede vision. Various battle scars across body. Top surgery scars.
  • Has lots of beads, bangles, and jewelry decorating his person
  • Prosthetic on right leg (see reference image)

Despite being a rogue, Polaris is a fan of flash & glamour, enjoying adorning himself in shiny sparkly do-dads, whether they be actual precious materials or simply glass & wire ornaments. Ironically, he tends to keep his tattoos covered in everyday wear, prefering only to expose more skin during performances or special events, in which he takes any chance he can to show them off. Also sporting heels and other instruments to acquire the physique he wishes to present.

One might mistake him for a bard at first glance, as many of his outfits are reminiscent of that style. However, he may not always appear as himself, as he has many different personas in order to preserve his reputation (or perhaps, secure a bad one).

Theme.

Inspired by bardcore, medieval fantasy, celestial bodies, stars, tarot cards, winter, cosmos.

Powers.
V

Arcane Trickery

Both innate and learned, he knows a handful of cantrips and spells useful in & out of combat. A part of his toolkit that he takes pride in - not everyone has contact with the Weave. (how he gained some of his arcane knowledge is TBD)

Sneak Attack

He is able to garner his skills in stealth and perceptiveness to better deter his assailants during combat. Whether working with others or having the advantage against an opponent, he is able to add extra damage die to an attack per round.

Background in Deception

Less of a "power" and more of a utility, but his skills in deceit and shifty engagement makes him a useful thief or assassin. He is fluent in Thieves' Cant and sign language, as well as being able to easily disguise himself and forge the proper documents for any secret identity. His abilities also led him to be an excellent performer/charlatan.

Demeanor.
VI
Instinctive

Calculated
Cruel

Kind
Deceptive

Sincere
Unjust

Fair
Indifferent

Emotional
Reserved

Affectionate

Polaris' personality is difficult to ascertain due to his nature of putting on the faces of others. He finds himself easily slipping into deception and charm to be able to win over others, but those who manage to push past his many walls will find someone genuinely caring. He has a soft spot for those impoverished or uncared for, as well as children, having perhaps an inner nurturing soul, despite his standoffish facades.

Relationships.

Evor "Evelyn" Ridel (Little Sister/Child)

Ever since Polaris allegedly "kidnapped" the little princess, they have been the best of friends, having a sibling-like relationship. The two confided greatly with one another about the hardships of their lives, and she was the closest person to Polaris until meeting the party. She had to be returned back to her family after the troupe was found out in Fairemire, and Polaris misses her dearly. Not much is known yet about their escapades before Moo joined the two.

Moo (Party Member/Platonic Hubby)

It hasn't been detailed how Moo met up with Ev and Polaris as of yet, but the trio had a very close bond and he considers the big softie a part of his family. Moo is Polaris' grounding, especially after all the tragedies that have befallen the group and the things they have lost. If Polaris were to lose Moo, it would be another chunk of his heart broken. They often cuddle, Moo is his teddy bear.

Jericho (Party Member/Brother in Worship)

The dragonborn shares worship of the Moon Goddess with Polaris. Though the tiefling is more spiritual than religious, he is thankful for the things he's learned from his time with Jericho. Often they think him a little too righteous, but have found a level head for the group comforting. Jericho is the group's morality, and Polaris feels grateful to have him trust them despite their darkness.

image2.png

Gawain (Party Member/Resident Drug Dealer)

He is not as close with the doctor as others in the group, but have gotten the chance to be more open and vulnerable with one another after Polaris lost his leg. Gawain is helping him recuperate, and they find him charming through his oddities. A similar kinship when it comes to moral judgement. Luckily, Gawain didn't get him addicted to opium, and Polaris has sworn not to take any after his induced surgery. They often call him a nerd.

image3.png

Paddy (Party Member/Rat/Sad Budds)

Polaris found her snark a bit rude and annoying, but also kind of enjoyed having someone to be able to bicker with. Recently, he was able to connect with her much more, allowing them to have a closer friendship and to be more vulnerable. They still bite at each other, but in a more playful way now, they do so lovingly. He worries that she'll have to take drastic measures in their quest, and doesn't want her to fall down the same path he did. He's made promises he's determined to keep.

image4.png

Lyra (Frien-pc/Therapist)

The catalyst for this troupe's union, and possibly the heart of the party for that reason, in Ev's absence. Polaris feels lucky to have someone be the purse for the party's needs, but values her more for her company than the money she lends. The two have spent some time together, and Lyra has lended herself as a listening ear and advice giver in some tough situations for him. Someone outside the party he can talk to about other problems. He wants to know more about her adventuring days.

Phinlie, the Oracle (Old Friend)

Continuously pulling the party into her realm during their dreams, he has only had a handful of encounters with the princess, a couple which have made him question some things about himself & his past. Knowing her and his past incarnation were close friends, she reminds him a lot of Evor, and that brings a sort of fondness to his thoughts. Still, he has a lot of questions that he wants answered.

Xuka (Ex-Twin Flame, deceased)

Again, not much is known about Xuka & Polaris' past before the events of the campaign. After finding out she was one of the heads of the Anguish of Decay, a death cult planning world genocide, he had to put their old friendship behind him. Polaris is responsible for her death, something he still can't forgive himself for. Thoughts of her have been tormenting him since then, but he has taken the party's trust over what misfortunes could have befallen them all if he'd let her live.
