"Blessed are the curious, for they will have adventures."

uill was born as a 'wild' enderman, meaning he was a byproduct of hundreds of other endermens particles that then reacted to the atmosphere after the death of the previous Ender Dragon. Most of his early life he spent on a solitary end island, until the battle regiment found him after their new commands for a new training programme were put into place.
After the raid on Central End that had killed the dragon, the leader of strategy and battle had put research into endermen who had been created outside of any settlement. What was discovered was that the lack of socialisation was associated with the primal ability to become furious upon making eye-contact; this is believed to be an ability with all endermen to humans, but in reality took on a more slight feeling of irritability rather than outright fury. Upon this discovery, the battle regiment of Central End was sent to collect as many wild endermen as possible in order to create a beserk unit that could rival a future raid.
Upon being transported to Central End, Quill - who was given a jumbled set of letters as his name instead - and the rest of the wild endermen were put under rigorous training and teaching until their leader was satiated. They would be taught how to fight before a speech on how everything outside of End was dangerous and ugly and needed to be destroyed. Despite the claimed importance to a battle, the numbers in their ranks began to whittle down as they were pushed to absolute limit, and anything below that was met with a horrific punishment. Those considered lucky were beaten or not given food, while others were sent away to be testing subjects for the medical unit.
After proving their worthiness by simply surviving this long, their final task before the end of their training was to venture into the Overworld and enact chaos; an act of revenge for the death of the dragon. Quill believed this to be a simple task: he'd go in, kill a human, and come back. And up until the second step everything went smoothly. He was disgusted by the sight of the Overworld, with the too-bright sun and the green everywhere and weird squishy creatures that made gross mouth-noises at him. Soon enough, he had tracked down a human settlement, and as night fell he picked the first one to stumble out of their huts to kill.

ut as he leapt, and had the fleshy creature pinned on this sickly green grass, his mind stopped for a moment. And everything changed.
Quill was suddenly aware of the feeling of the earth, the warmth of this tiny stranger, and how bad he felt about what he was about to do. He had never felt bad before. He had never even thought about how he'd felt throughout this entire thing. This realisation had given enough time for his target to wriggle out of his grasp and disappear into one of the huts. Quill didn't chase; he had years of thinking to catch up on.
After this, Quill spent a while exploring everything the Overworld had to offer, since he could never return to the End after giving up his training. During the beginning of his travels he found Alev, the first human who ever tried talking to him instead of running away or brandishing a sword. The two formed a close bond, and Quill slowly became who he is now - he found his name after taking an interest in literature, learnt how to speak and write, and established himself as more than just a number in an army. Things were looking up.
espite the connections he'd found in the Overworld, a particularly dark day made him contemplate everything all over again. Alev had let it slip that he was a member of the dragon-killing raid, and Quill had made the mistake of looking him in the eyes as they argued. For the briefest moment he was a beserked monster again, and if Alev had not been a skilled fighter it would've been likely Quill would have killed his best friend.
After being forced out of the house - mostly for Alev's own survival - he spent a long moment reflecting on himself. When he looked up and saw dark clouds gathering over the moon, Quill didn't move, not even when he could feel that first raindrop hit his face, fizzling as it settled. If his own eyes were the cause of all this - the reason why he was found by the regiment, why he almost killed two people - then perhaps he'd be better off with no eyes at all. He pursed his lips, opened his eyes wide, and faced upwards to the clouds. The cloud-covered moon was the last thing he ever saw.

ELL.. Quill has had a troubled development. He was the epitome of my absolutely huge hyperfixation on the DSMP, and a trend came around where sonas based on the server circled around and I was set on a fun little blind enderman. He had very little character and his only backstory was how he was blinded, so for a long while he was just a Fun Design with Nothing To Him.
He stayed like this for a long while until I started developing Badgey and the world he was in. This was around the point where my fixation had started to taper off and I watched first-hand as the entire fandom collapsed in on itself and thought maybe I should dig Quill out from the wreckage. His design stayed pretty similar but I scrapped everything lore-based and started from scratch. I had defined Alev a bit more the same time I had started working on Quill again, and the two just fit together well in my head. The rest of his story came about after I had given some thought into how the End worked (with some thinking on the species that I'll post later huehuehue) and everything else came after. He's still got a long way to go until I'm happy with his story, but I'm quite proud of him for getting this far.
DESIGN NOTES
- bandages either cover one half or both of his eyes
- can also be drawn with no bandages (pre-scar or not!)
- his ears aren't as long as badgey's, and they point upwards rather than flop down

- His tail can also be used as a makeshift cane if he doesn't have one on-hand, since it's long enough to sweep in front of him.
- He is completely blind; rain to endermen is acidic, meaning he practically burned out his eyes. He was incredibly frail for a good while afterwards, but recovered despite the circumstances! He wore bandages while the skin was healing, but keeps them on after they'd healed as he finds them comforting. A while into Badgey's stay he starts not wearing them as often.
- He's very good at making quick campsites and small houses to stay the night in. Quill has a knack for forecasting rain, and has to act quickly to not get caught out in another storm.
During one of his trips to Alev's house, his friend asked him to stay a bit longer to help Badgey settle. Quill took to teaching Badgey immediately, using his own experiences to get the young enderman to speak non-telapathically. While it might've been Badgey needing attachment after his exile, him and Quill became inseperable during the time he spent with them. Badgey sees Quill as his complete and utter role-model, constantly in awe of how well he copes without the End. Although Badgey was emotional when Quill had to leave for the first time, Quill makes sure to visit frequently, bringing back plenty of souveniers and stories to tell his apprentice.
Alev and Quill have been friends for years, and the combined effort of helping Badgey has made them even closer. Alev helped Quill recover when he lost his sight, making him canes out of iron and cobble, and regaining his confidence after the incident left his body scarred. Quill makes sure to visit Alev as much as he can, and tends to stay over during winter, or in stormy weather (Badgey is ecstatic every time this happens). With Badgey, Quill tends to leave the physical stuff - combat especially - to Alev, and his friend returns it by leaving Quill to teach language and culture. That being said, Alev joins in (and takes secret lessons) so that he can understand Badgey as much as possible.
