Dan has the ability to shapeshift. It is much easier for him to shapeshift himself completely, however, if he concentrates. he can shapeshift just small parts of himself. He has the ability to turn into other humans or animals. However, he cannot turn into anything without a brain, as this will cause his own brain to vanish and he'll essentially die.

Physical Effects

Well, obviously there's the whole "shapeshifting" aspect of Dan's powers. However, he does have a cat tail that ingrained itself into Dan's DNA when he received his powers. He has a very difficult time getting rid of it which means that whenever

Dan is a theater kid. He's excitable, passionate, and smart. But, just like real theater kids, he's a serial procrastinator and has a tendency to be a little lazy and can be found sleeping almost all the time. He loves to bond with people by messing with them, and is always down for a good prank.

History

Dan was born to Trisha Wirsch and Charles Birman in 1991. However, his parents' marriage was failing. When Dan was 2 years old, his parents officially split up, leaving him in the sole custody of his mother. However, because of Dan's birth, Trisha had to drop out of college and was unable to find a stable job. She worked at 3 different part-time jobs to give Dan the best life he could have. Despite doing everything in her power to give Dan the best, she was never around, and Dan developed psychological issues because of this. Dan went to private schools up until graduation, where he moved onto UW Milwaukee to study chemistry. However, Dan found himself unable to enjoy himself in his major, frustrated and unhappy, Dan dropped out of college to pursue a career in musical theater. However, he has a hard time getting parts in shows and refuses to get a job outside of theater, which makes his mother very angry.

Role in Power Pills

Dan had finally gotten a role in a show at his local theater thanks to his friend, Max. However, just before his final show, Dan contracted a horrific cold. Unable to perform, Dan wasn't sure what to do. Finally, what he thought was a technician on the show came up to him and offered him some cold medicine. Dan gratefully accepted it. However, the pill didn't exactly have the desired effect. Midway through the show, Dan passed out onstage due to pain. Dan's friends helped get him to his friend, Lucy's, house where he promptly passed out again. Dan woke up the next morning and discovered that he had shapeshifting powers. After a few days of practice, and an incident that involved giving CPR to a fish, his friend, Jason, found out about his powers and forced him to become a superhero like the prolific Soul Seer. Shortly after his first arrest, Dan learned that, not only did he enjoy superheroing, someone was willing to pay him for his work. Excited, Dan began to spend most of his free time doing superhero work. However, this caught the attention of Future Tech, and Dan was tricked into almost being kidnapped. He managed to escape, but barely. So when Caleb and a known Future Tech associate, Avery, showed up at his doorstop, Dan, reasonably, freaked out. Dan ran until Caleb and Avery finally caught up to him and explained everything. Caleb and Dan then agreed to partner up and save the world together.

About a month later, Dan caught word of a ballet dancer who flew and teleported during her performance, so he dragged Caleb to come see the show and help him figure out who this dancer is. The two of them were able to pick out Merri, but when they went to confront her, they were attacked by a group of Future Tech employees. Dan and Caleb managed to fight off their opponents but Merri was shot in the head, revealing her selective immunity. It was due to this fight that Merri agreed to join up with the two heroes and they quickly set Merri up with the team. And Dan made it his personal mission to set Merri up with her crush, Travis. He tried desperately to use the Superman/Spider-Man method of saving the love interest's life, but only managed to traumatize Travis. Unfortunately, it wasn't until Travis actually almost died that Dan realized he'd messed up and decided to step down from matchmaking.

But Dan's life can't stay uneventful for long, and soon Lightbringer showed up at his house to inform him that he'd given someone else powers, and Dan needed to go and bring her to the rest of the team. Dan agreed and he and Lightbringer collected Kristy and helped introduce her to the other heroes.

Design Notes

Dan's hair is a fluffy mohawk. It's symmetrical, however, it appears to lean slightly to his right when he is facing forward.
Dan is fairly ripped.
Despite having shapeshifting powers, Dan still uses a hair straightener to straighten his hair.

Appearance

Dan has a fluffy mohawk with a small amount of hair on either side. His eyes are a dark brown. He has a fair amount of muscle, including abs. He has a cat tail the same color as his hair that will show up for days at a time before he can remove it. His left ear is pierced.

Dan is almost ALWAYS seen wearing his small hoop earring and, provided the weather is right, his worn, leather jacket.
