Profile

Description: Livtek... So that’s your name, librarian? Why do you want me to answer questions about you as well? ... I see. I don’t see you that often, but you seem to like to wear coats. Green skin — is that even skin? — curly, brown horns and wavy, white hair. Always a bit tired.

On a side note, you look kind of familiar... No, not anyone I know personally, but kind of... an image, or figure... a parental figure? You hear that often? ... How can it be just an impression if you hear it often? Although, yes, I also cannot elaborate it any further.

Background: You built this whole library, constantly update it, dedicate your entire immortality to listening to all who wish to be heard, and then just leave everything you work for available for everyone to see if they so wish. Why? Don’t you know knowledge is power? Why are you giving it all up so easily? You clearly know I’m not giving you everything I know, and yet you’re listening to me. One of the reasons I accepted being interviewed was to understand your motivations. With so much control over information in Eternity, you could be quite fearsome. So why?

Don’t give me that “writing is all I can do.”

Knowledge for knowledge’s sake... I see. It makes sense. You even get a lot of stability most of us can’t afford: since you’re doing so much for so many, they will protect you even if you can’t protect yourself. But can you say you will be satisfied with just that forever? If you ever find something you desire, will you break your neutrality? What if someone uses what you have built to destroy what you wish to protect? You’re just digging your own grave in the long term.

Addendum: This is the librarian. If this is your first time reading this kind of biography, allow me to explain. Most biographies, no, most books I have available are from the point of view of people. People have their own biases and positions, so they are not objective. There is no way to change this, however, I attempt to take responsibility for the contents of my own library. As I have determined that removing bias is impossible — who can say that I, myself, have no bias when modifying what is said to me? — I have determined it would be better to leave the writing mostly as it was related to me. The final version will, of course, have all sensitive information omitted, such as names, as I also have a duty of privacy and safety with my fellow immortals. This will apply to those who share their stories with me and, thus, I cannot share their names, and their bias may be clouded. As you may have noticed, most books in my library have an introduction warning the reader about how they are but an interpretation. That is one of my measures to protect the integrity of both my library as a source of information and also towards my fellow immortals. The second measure I take that I found particularly helpful in biographies is asking the interviewee to talk about someone or something that is widely known. If you are in my library, then that is probably me. Famous immortals may also be a good reference. If you can read how the interviewee portrays figures you also know, then their bias and position may become clearer without necessarily compromising their privacy.

If you have any feedback on my methodology, please make an appointment. I am continuously striving to improve.
