The last thing it remembered was blood.

Choking up the bile of its own existence, it died, splayed on cold stone, utterly alone.
The spiteful creature who wished to be a god challenged divinity for the last time, finally gone too far.
It paid for its folly.
Vengeance in fading eyes.
A heart hardened, and ceased to beat.
Its shape could no longer hold solid form.
A mass of nothing pulsed and writhed, and was no more.

… Ah.

The thousandth soul.

999 perished before.
And this soul.
Was the last.

What a strong will.
What determination.
And the strength to cling to the living realm, gained by so many years spent watching.
Coveting.

It scraped and fought.
And its wish was granted.

From the ash of a shadow of an egg, a new goddess, or god, was born.
A fledging of cursed wing.
And such bright colours.
It remembered its purpose.
And with time, she remembered her name.

Cipa.

Cipa!

The name of the being who would challenge Mogwa, the Mercurial.
Who Cipa loved.
Who Cipa loathed.

And now, they were on equal footing.

She couldn’t wait to see her face, when she saw her again.
