Votive was born to loyal and dedicated soldiers of the Black Citadel. As per custom, she was raised not by her parents but in a fahrar with other cubs her age, having been sorted into the Ash Legion at birth.
From an early age, she showed aptitude with tinkering and was often more interested in taking apart and rebuilding things from scrap than paying attention to more martial training. This lead her to become a skilled engineer for the Legion and the greater Charr forces, eventually taking her far beyond the woodland plains of Ascalon to the far reaches of Tyria.
