Youmu is a withdrawn girl, rarely speaking at length except when performing Rakugo or other storytelling shows at the Noh theatre. She finds emotions difficult and complicated, struggling to understand them apart from using her masks to emote. Underneath this somewhat fragile appearance however is a sophisticated liar whose stories and deceptions are so complex and intricate that they are rarely unwound. She takes joy in thinking up her stories, taking pride in all the things she's gotten away with. In truth, she doesn't really do it maliciously, she was never taught what was right or wrong and just follows her youkai instinct to cause trouble. When lying, she gets lost in her own play-pretend emotions and really enjoys herself.

Her 'true self' is mostly unknown, but she appears to really be a perfectionist who worries about every little detail, explaining why her lies are so detailed. She is quiet but hopeful, even though she says emotions are 'scary.' Deep down, she just wants to be like the other humans and be taught to feel like they did.
