Cirdan Arlazriel (Magical Specialties)

Profile

Everyday spellwork:
Consider this something like 'everyday carry'. Cirdan employs most of this magic daily or almost daily.

Glamor - Cirdan typically only drops his glamor at night when he's ready for bed. He minimizes small imperfections - freckles, eye bags, fine lines, etc. and often hides the scarring on his hands from rough work and spells gone awry. He uses a more powerful glamor for formal occasions, when his goal is to demoralize everyone around him by being devastatingly pretty. His glamors are solid work and he's so used to them that it doesn't impact his concentration.

Muffling - Cirdan actually embroiders muffling dweomers into his clothing, to keep his steps quiet and his sometime copious amount of jewelry from making too much noise. He values being able to move quietly and unobtrusively when he needs to.

Space-warping - What would a talented mage be without twisting a little bit of reality? Again, with some clever enchantments and delicate embroidery tucked away on hidden hems, Cirdan has coats that both have impossibly large pockets and others that secret away access to his bookshelves or other odds and ends around his house - though it weakens over distance.

Minor Conjuring - Cirdan has a few small, very specific conjuration spells that allow him to pull items out of thin air - most importantly parchments, pens, charcoals, and jewelry.

Automation - Cirdan doesn't shy from labor but he's also fully prepared to make his life easier in what ways he can. He'll drop little enchantments on items or charms to make them carry out a task, like setting a scrub brush going in a difficult potion pot or charm that braids his hair while he gets dressed.

Major Skills:
Here is where Cirdan's talents and areas of concentration lie.

Illusion - Cirdan's extensive use of glamors keep his illusory skills sharp. In addition to vanity, he also turns this skill toward the concealment and protection of his home(s), which are often in inaccessible rocky areas and he hides the signs of his living there under powerful illusions contained in intricate chalk circles and engravings.

Stone-shaping - The family proclivity toward stone-shaping - the art of bending earth and rock to one's will - is alive and well in Cirdan, though he lacks his mother's absolute mastery. In practical applications, he can quickly and simply hollow out crags and caves to make comfortable dwellings and modify his home(s) without much hardship when he needs a new shelf or storage. In offensive applications, he can raise rock walls or spires of stone and send spikes hurtling toward enemies with extreme prejudice.

"Wild" Magic - Cirdan's favored offensive attack is, at it's simplest, pure and unshaped magical energy. He doesn't bother to turn it to an element or to a particular branch of magic when he can just channel energy directly in an outpouring of raw power, using himself as a conduit.

Black magic - Pestilence, hexes, curses, Cirdan has no qualms employing any of it, though he's not (particularly) amoral and won't usually turn dark magic against a random stranger. He hesitates to teach it, knowing the power within and how easily power corrupts, but he's up-front an honest in discussion, refusing to shy from accounts of his practice over the years, both triumphs and failures.

Blood magic - Tying into black magic above, Cirdan often specifically uses blood magic to augment his powers and abilities, and to perform assorted forms of divination. He's a staunch believer in only taking of himself, with small and exact exceptions. If he intends to use an animal for food and other useful bits, he's not above performing a ritual sacrifice (waste not, want not). In a fight for his life, he will use the blood of his assailants against any remaining enemies, but he would never take of a random bystander or ally.

Other Skills:
Here's where Cirdan is less experienced but still capable enough.

Elemental Magic - While not Cirdan's specialty or his favorite, he can perform offensive elemental magic without much trouble. He favors lightning and fire the most, two elements that require good concentration and control to wield.

Conjuration - Cirdan prefers illusions to complete conjuration but he can create ethereal items when pressed.
