Clothing Style

Lee always keeps himself well dressed and looking sharp, and he rarely settles for anything other than the highest quality. His wardrobe consists of mostly dress shirts and pants, suits, vests, and jackets, and a large array of classy accessories. He frequently cycles through new clothing since he grows tired of the same outfit after a while. He wears mostly black with usually red or white accents, and he tends to have a mildly gothic theme to his style, although he'll never wear anything too gaudy or tacky in terms of motifs. Some of his outfits have an old fashioned taste to them depending on the occasion, usually these ones being for more special events. When at home he'll dress down only slightly, but he still tends to be very well dressed no matter what. Even his sleepwear is of the highest quality silks for his tops, bottoms, and robes.

Lee tends to accessorize quite a bit, but he prefers classy over flashy. He will frequently wear brooches if he's also wearing a high collar, tie, or cravat. His jackets also tend to have cufflinks, and he'll often wear white gloves when out in public. Otherwise he'll wear numerous rings, most of which are silver in color or have red gemstones. His more casual accessories consist of two silver belts around his hips (both rather plain looking but infused with energy from his necromancy, so both may be used in binding hexes against other things) and a studded choker that matches those worn by his band mates. He tends to cover it with his high collars, but he seldom goes without it. He also tends to wear light leather spat-like socks that leave his toes and heel uncovered. He says that his feet tend to suffer first when he is weakened since there are so many bones to hold together, so these are used to better keep them in place and in shape. He doesn't wear regular socks since they are uncomfortable with his clawlike nails.

The few times Lee will dress down are for very specific band events. He still dresses impeccably for performances, but he will dress somewhat less "expensively" for certain outdoor events or instances to meet with fans, mostly because he doesn't want his better clothing to be ruined. He still maintains a mildly gothic dressy style, but it comes off as more casual and almost punk-ish since it's not meant for high class events. Lee tends to wear these more moderate outfits when he knows ahead of time that he is going somewhere that may end up getting dirty, such as the outdoors or public establishments he finds repulsive (like fast food joints). The only time Lee's ever dressed totally casually was the first instance he was invited to stay at Conner's home, and Conner offered to let him borrow some of his clothes after Lee was caught in the rain prior. Although Lee normally acts like dressing like a commoner is beneath him, he does not hold such an opinion about this particular instance due to the amount of generosity the Zweigers offered to him, which he is entirely grateful for.

Personality

Lee is a sophisticated and prim aristocratic zombie who tends to have a rather arrogant air about him. On first impressions he seems like an elitist snob who doesn't bother with anyone or anything "beneath him," yet he will treat others civilly unless they give him reason not to. He is extremely polite to those he respects, but he's also very condescending and dismissive toward those he doesn't. He always conducts himself with fine etiquette and is highly dexterous and elegant about everything he does. He has a tendency to be a perfectionist and can be rather stubborn and averse to change. Since he was brought up being pampered in a rich household, he can be a bit materialistic and shallow at times and isn't very experienced with things that aren't "first world rich person" problems. However, he is open minded about learning about new environments and issues of normal people, and he can be rather down to earth with matters that involve his closest friends. Lee might appreciate luxuries, fine arts, and be a little petty at times, but he acknowledges when his problems aren't high priority compared to others.

To his closest friends, Lee can actually be quite kind and sympathetic. He has a clever mind and tends to make logical decisions without getting flustered easily. He is usually capable of keeping a level head and remaining calm and collected in a crisis. He approaches problems practically and usually doesn't let his emotions distract him when he needs to make a decision. However he also tends to keep most of his vulnerabilities to himself, for he's okay with expressing his displeasure or disapproval toward things yet he doesn't like expressing his more personal issues in any sense, such as feeling homesick or talking about sentiments. He already feels vulnerable in this foreign environment so far from home, so he doesn't want to give anyone else any opportunities to poke at his weaknesses. This is likely why he tends to be rather cold and prickly toward strangers, yet he's much more mellow and considerate toward his friends. He's very protective of those he cares about, especially those that are mortal. Since Lee can regenerate very quickly, he has no issues protecting his mortal friends from otherwise fatal injuries. This seems to be one of the few actions he'll take that's normally rough or dirty and be perfectly willing to do so if needed since he cares very deeply about his band mates and Conner's family for helping him and giving him a place to stay.

Around others, Lee tends to not initiate conversations and prefers to keep to himself. He doesn't act very warm or welcoming toward those who speak to him, but he will remain polite and well mannered unless the other person offends him in some manner, which could happen in a number of ways. Despite his normal prim demeanor, Lee can be incredibly sassy and sarcastic when he's unamused or bored, and he gets harsher the longer he feels his time is being wasted. He always maintains a high level of eloquence though, so any insults he ends up throwing will always be very cleverly constructed. In almost all cases, he'll remain poised when irritated, and he only tends to really lose his temper with uncouth behavior, things that ruin his outfits or belongings, or pretty much anything Fathom does.

Backstory

Lee was "born" into the Vey clan, a powerful, upper class family of zombie warlocks and necromancers. He was animated by the current heads of the family, Cassius and Victoria Schmedrick. Their family held much influence over Transvana, and he grew up in their family estate highly spoiled and tutored in noble etiquette, necromancy, and piano playing. During Lee's childhood, his town and estate came under attack by an enemy werewolf clan. All of his family save for himself and his parents were killed, and Lee became even more sheltered and distant from the outside world.

His life at home went on with little issue until he was 15 and a member of his estate staff kidnapped him for ransom. Lee was taken off Transvana for safekeeping, but during a pass through Taliac when his kidnappers were working on another job, he was rescued by Conner Zweiger. Lee realized he had no way of contacting his family or gaining passage off Taliac, and he fended for himself while trying to figure things out, too nervous and uncomfortable in his new surroundings to ask for help, until Conner insisted he live with his family for the time being.

Lee continues living with the Zweigers and plays as a pianist for their band, Etrukan Truth, while assisting Volkmar Etruka with writing a great deal of their music. Although he isn't too fond of the middle class environment or the company of the band's drummer, Lee respects Conner and his family and intends to repay him for saving his life in any way he can. He's grown especially close to Jasper Moflin, who seems to have taken to treating Lee like his older brother. Lee has taken up mentoring him and teaching him how to read and write.

Trivia:

  • Lee's name was selected entirely by a friend of mine who just came up with it on the spot when asked for suggestions for "band member names."
  • Has a very distinct Transvanan accent. I don't really know how to describe it, but it sounds vaguely British, but not really.
  • Lee enjoys many types of tea, but most of his favorites are unique to Transvana. His favorite kind of tea on Taliac is Earl Grey.
    • Has several tea sets, and he has a habit of buying a lot of new ones since Fathom usually ends up breaking them somehow.
    • Fathom says he's addicted to tea, but Lee says he only has a "keen fondness" for it.
  • Lee's favored hobbies involve reading, playing music, preparing tea, and putting together and wearing different outfits.
  • His favored genre of music is classical, but obviously he's grown to like the kind of music that Etrukan Truth performs.
  • His favorite foods are mostly rare or raw meats, and his absolute favorite meal is apparently broiled pancreas.
    • He gets offended when people imply that he eats brains since he's a zombie. He finds it to be an ignorant and repulsive stereotype and that brains aren't even a quality organ to choose from.
  • His favorite color is silver, closely followed by black and then red. He also likes white in terms of having white accents with other colors.
  • His band members think he collects clothing, but Lee goes through it all rather quickly.
    • Has been buying things with his family's account connected to the Blacc Marquette in hopes they'll notice strange things happening with their funds and investigate, and therefore find him since he doesn't know how to contact them. Unfortunately it hasn't worked yet.
    • Even though he goes through his clothing pretty quickly, he hates it when his outfits get dirty or damaged.
    • He always carries a few pocket handkerchiefs with him, usually for cleaning up small messes, for picking up things that he finds unsanitary, or dabbing away blood when he needs to eat something.
  • Although he can't be turned into a werewolf by their bites, Lee seems to have some kind of allergy to the taint their bites carry and has bad reactions to them.
    • Terrified of werewolves due to the traumatic incident in his childhood. The werewolves of Transvana are one of the few things that are capable of killing Vey.
  • He enjoys getting fresh air and has noted that Taliac's air smells particularly "sweet" compared to that of Transvana. He says it's possible that the place he comes from might just smell a lot like corpse though considering all the undead that walk there. The family manor smells pretty strongly of incense, perfumes, and herbs though.
    • Appreciates the smell of old books and crisp parchment.
  • Very particular about keeping things orderly and neat, to the point where he could be described as a neat freak. He gets very cross when other people in the house leave things around where they're not supposed to be.
  • He doesn't have any vehicle of his own while living with his band, but he's been taught the basics of how to drive by Oskar Zweiger and can borrow his, Conner's, or Linsey's car when needed. He doesn’t have a license, so it’s mostly for emergency situations, and he prefers to be chauffeured anyway.
  • Lee is usually pretty shy about showing affection, and he tends to get very quiet to avoid sounding flustered when people around him are too affectionate with him. He's used to the abundant affection his parents would shower him in, but he's still rather awkward about affection from other people.
    • He's especially awkward about romance in general and prefers not to acknowledge such feelings at all.
    • Lee initially has a bit of a crush on Linsey, and she also likes him, but Lee doesn't really think she would like him back. Fathom regrets saying it now, but he did rudely tell Lee once that Linsey wouldn't find a corpse attractive, and that's been a thought in the back of Lee's head ever since that tells him it would never work between him and Linsey, so he shouldn't even bother.
  • Although Lee normally doesn't like to get himself "dirtied," he doesn't mind stepping in and putting himself in harm's way in order to protect his friends. He reasons that he is much harder to kill than they are, so he would much rather put himself at risk to prevent them from getting killed.
  • There's a side table in the living room that usually has a lamp on it, but it's always getting broken somehow, either on accident from rowdiness in the house or from someone actively throwing it. If it's thrown, then it's usually Fathom throwing it at Lee, although Fathom has never actually hit him with it, nor does he actually aim to hit him in the first place. It's more of an immature way of throwing aggression in his direction rather than actually trying to cause physical harm.
  • Lee is vaguely aware about all the "ships" that Linsey has made for the members of the band, and Conner has called her out on shipping Lee with almost every single main member, the only exception being Volkmar. Lee doesn't really know what to think of it, but he chooses not to acknowledge it.
    • The ship names are Conlee, Fathlee, and Jaslee, and he's unaware that Linsey also headcanons Linlee as well.
    • Linsey has complained to Lee about his name being too short to create different sounding ship names. He pretends she never mentioned it at all.
  • He's aware that Jasper has a crush on him, and Lee doesn't try to dissuade him from expressing his feelings toward him, especially since Jasper is shy in general. Jasper is usually pretty open about his admiration of Lee anyway, usually calling him "really smart," telling him he always looks "beautiful," and even saying that he thinks Lee has "star-striking eyes" in a very upfront manner. Lee just accepts the compliments and says he appreciates them, since trying to sound humble would probably make Jasper self-conscious about speaking his mind openly.
    • Lee is probably the most comfortable out of all the band members with saying that he loves Jasper back when Jasper says he loves him (he tends to be very open about telling his friends he loves them). Fathom tends to deflect and feel awkward about it, Linsey usually just thinks it's cute and accepts it like a compliment, and Conner warms up to reciprocating as well over time, but Lee was basically immediate about saying he loves Jasper too, since he spent the most time with Jasper through tutoring him in reading and writing, so he knew that being straight-forward about returning the gesture would be something that Jasper would feel comfortable with.
    • This is probably why most of the other band members think Jaslee is a very strong ship. Lee even gives Jasper kisses on the head to comfort him sometimes, so how could you not?
  • Although he does a good job at hiding it, Lee is terribly insecure about being perceived as “ugly” or “undesirable.” He never had this problem until he was brought to Taliac and became aware that “zombies” are typically seen as disgusting and vile rotting creatures. This is not something he ever encountered on Transvana, both because he was very sheltered and also because Vey are fairly normal beings there and not really seen as corpses rather than normal people. Ever since realizing that most people on Taliac find zombies as gross, mindless monsters that are basically always portrayed as antagonists and meant to be avoided or killed, he has developed the constant fear of being perceived as such and provoking such feelings toward himself.
    • Gets very upset when others imply or even joke about him being gross if he has any visible rot, exposed bones, or if one of his limbs fall off. This usually only happens if he’s diverting most of his energy into his rifting or if he is struck very hard, since his body isn’t quite as hardy as a normal mortal body.
    • His confidence took a big hit when Fathom rudely remarked to him that Linsey wouldn’t find ”a corpse” attractive. Fathom regrets saying it and didn’t really mean it, but Lee hasn’t forgotten that sentiment and feels it must be true to some degree. He now has a hard time coping with the mindset that no matter what he does, the mortal people around him will always see him as “incompatible” simply because he’s “a zombie” and couldn’t possibly be deserving of love or companionship by a living person. And the notion that anyone who legitimately might be attracted to him despite him being what he is must be a deviant or have some kind of weird fetish or necrophilia really bothers him, as if no one could possibly love him unless there’s something “wrong” with them.
  • Old Charahub blurb: "A noble of the most powerful Vey clan on Transvana, he finds himself unable to return home after a kidnapping incident and finds refuge with his new band mates."
