Profile
Main protagonist of Orehiki.
Shigesaburou (affectionately referred to as "Shige" by everyone that knows him) is a former retainer for the Inohira clan. During his time there, he was named Tadashi, but after he ran away in the middle of the night, he left that name behind, choosing instead to go back to the name his mother gave him as a child.
He's usually quiet and keeps a neutral expression, especially at the beginning, but the more he gets to know the others, the more he opens up to them. He has a bad habit of thinking his feelings more than saying them, which can lead him to trouble sometimes.
Shige's very observant with people, although still ignorant about their behaviors or feelings (ie. noticing a change in someone's demeanor right away, but not realizing what it is that changed or what caused it or why; sometimes he needs to have it spelled out for him). He spent most of his life naive to the idea that war and battle can affect people as much as it does, until he comes face to face with it himself.
Even if it seems like he doesn't show much emotion at times, Shige is a very caring and affectionate person. He will almost always put someone else's safety first, and is incredibly protective of those around him. Shige hates to be angry, but it's an emotion he's very familiar with, and sometimes when he gets mad he can take it farther than he intends to.
Shige has gaps in his memories, especially from his childhood, and he's aware there's things that he can't recall, which causes him a lot of frustration sometimes. He's also aware that it isn't a normal thing that he isn't able to cry, and it's one of the biggest sources of his frustrations, because he doesn't know why it is that he can't cry.
He only carries a single katana, and wields it left-handed.
