Kikuji

Kikuji (affectionately called "Kiku" or "Kikubo" by most people that know him) originally came from a small village on the north side of the mountain. After his family was attacked and left for dead, he was taken in by the monks at the temple monastery, and has called Tenmyouji his home ever since. Kikuji is the name given to him by his late parents.

Kiku is bright and cheerful, always wanting to keep a smile on his face. The incident from his childhood caused him to hold onto a hostile grudge for many years, which he hates feeling, and thinks of himself as a worse person when any of his anger comes to the surface.
The drifters at the temple helped to take care of him as he was growing up, and they taught him how to wield a sword (even got him a katana of his own), but while he appreciates it as much as he does, Kiku doesn't like the feeling of using the sword, and instead opts to carry his late father's tanto. Kiku uses it for various mundane tasks, as well as his main weapon of choice.
His outer coat is dyed similarly to the monks', but the color is slightly different and they added stripes to his sleeves to differentiate him from them (since he isn't a monk, but he always insisted he wanted to match).

Kiku gets embarrassed easily if someone teases him, but would turn around and tease other as well. He also has a habit of showing his emotions and thoughts on his face, which makes him easy to read (and easy to tease).
He also doesn't take well to goodbyes, and seeing off drifters that he's known even for just a little while can make him sad.
