Profile

Lieselotte has been working professionally as a Necromancer for 2 years now, and it is tiresome: most of her day is spent shuffling paperwork, selling potions and taking orders for magical items at her mill shop, rather than reanimating the dead or investigating murders. Why in the world would she spend years studying anatomy, medicine, criminology, dark arts and toxins if all the Witch Council wanted was someone working a 9 to 5 desk job? No, Lotte craves real excitement for all the time she's invested into this dead-end profession. The kind of excitement that doesn't make half the village run after you with a pitchfork!

But what is a witch to do?

Assist adventurers of course! Maybe even get out the door herself, if her pleas for a vacation go through.

Personality

Bored to tears with her job - Unfit to sit still, Lotte decided to go into a job barely anyone else dares to do: deal with the dead. Too bad the rules and regulations regarding her profession changed so much during her studies... Now a glorified shop clerk, Lotte is stuck in a very predicable and routine life, which basically boils down to her just selling whatever she has in storage to whoever is unlucky enough to enter her mill. Her dreams of investigating crime scenes and capturing murderers have been hammered to slowly to death with a smooth rock, and she's not afraid of sharing her displeasure. Anyone who comes through her door are subject to whatever mood she's in, and more than often are at the receiving end of her frustrations and bitterness at the Witch Council... right after being scared half to death by her Necromancer costumes and half dead dogs circling around the back of the shop.

If Lotte's being honest, making her customers confused, miserable and permanently distrustful of magic is among the few joys she can indulge in nowadays. Maybe she'll finally get fired and go home... but sadly, more than often than not her clients are not in a position to flee, and are adamant about their needs. Since they're so desperate, they also tend to forget to leave her bad reviews, meaning Lotte will continue this life for some time to come. Too bad her stubborn pride won't even let her slack off on the job, which makes things even worse as she keeps pouring her everything into something she haaaaaaatessssss. Is it a wonder she's bitter? Barks about her sad, miserable life to all who will even remotely listen to her and her poor coping mechanisms?

Curiosity killed the cat - There is nothing Lotte desires more than knowledge, and it's the only surefire way to bribe her for something she keeps screaming "isn't for sale". Despite her young age and frequent change of pace, Lotte has the memory of an elephant and never seems to forget anything. Information sticks to her brain like glue, and the more she gains, the more she feels secure about the world. That's not to say she's afraid of it: more like vary, till she realizes she can use it in some way... and everything has a use. She screeches with absolute glee when confronted with the unknown, and if she's able to touch it with her own hands, you can bet she's the first in line to lay claim on it.

Unfortunately, this trait of hers gives her more trouble than its' worth. When she becomes interested in something, Lotte will force herself into it one way or another. She won't back off when told no, and she won't go anywhere until she gets what she wants or a satisfying conclusion. She's also vary to share any of her knowledge back, unless she knows how it will be used and she has control over it so... have fun with that.

A real collection is never complete - Lotte likes to collect things. Specifically, she's into collections that can't be completed, as it goes against the whole reason to collect in the first place. As a result, Lotte hoards a lot of things: clothes, books, albino animals in jars that she regularly animates for company... You name it, she has a piece of it. Due to her willingness to never be done with her things, she can in fact be persuaded to part with her collection if you can make up for it elsewhere. She falls out of love with her things as quickly as she gets attached to them, so if you do get a rare no, asking again never hurts.

A few things are however priceless and special to her, mostly because they serve a function or need. Her witch hat works as an ID, her Grimoire contains her own private notes, her "perfectly preserved" animals are her beloved children, and Mr Grin is... well... something she can't get rid of, so no use asking. 'sides: he makes a mean tea.

Never do anything for free - Charity does not come easy to Lotte. She doesn't like to share for the sake of sharing. It's her stuff, why should she give it to you? And because of this, Lotte never does anything for free. Need a special order? There's a special fee if you need it by a deadline. Lotte dun give a damn that your mother is dying; you should have come sooner in that case, and she's not bending the rules of the council to "have a clear conscious". Lotte sleeps just fine at night.

However, this trait is not necessarily a bad one. Lotte does not randomly accept gifts without giving back in return. She views gifts with great awe, and may be completely thrown off her sarcastic  and dramatic persona when shown genuine kindness. If she's been given something she especially views as useful or beautiful, you may get showered in gifts in return, but be warned --- she does reject some presents if she feels she can't repay the favor, and she knows the difference between real offering and a bribe.

What's the point of life, if not theater? - Lotte, surprisingly, likes to entertain and isn't afraid of being the center of attention. Why else would be dress in such giant, inconvenient garbs and have her undead followers make sure she's always followed by a mist effect? Life is short! It ought to be dramatic and filled with things that overwhelm you. Lotte likes to live up her reputation as a beautiful, mad witch, and she'll do anything to keep up the appearance of being just that. Hell, if you come to her on a good day, she may indeed be attempting to upstage previous gossip! Not a fan of dullness, she had a habit of exaggerating her feelings or covering them entirely up with sarcasm and haughtiness, depending on the situation. She does not shy away from drama, nor does she back down when threatened. Most of the time she doubles down, only to realize it was a poor decision... simply because it was the more dramatic and interesting action to take. She has gotten herself into many different bets and competitions this way, and no-one takes more advantage of this than Mr Grin himself.

Not one to easily scare - Lotte used to be a scardycat as a child, jumping at every shadow and every sound... but now? Now she's been stuck with the Grinning Man for 10 years, and believe me; he makes everything else seem less frightening. Much thanks to him and the grim nature of her job, Lotte has grown accustomed to all things that go dump in the night. The sight of blood is hardly unsettling, bones give her no chill, and the scream of a banshee is no more uncomfortable than an alarmbell. In fact, hardly anything dead and demonic surprised her anymore... too bad she keeps forgetting that others don't have the same experience as her. She doesn't mean to come off as callous when taking care of dead bodies or speaking of the dead in a matter of fact manner. She's simply desensitized to this due to all the exposure. She'll put away the jar with the white borzoi if you ask.
