Born and raised in high elevations, Atlas prefers the cold. His mother, an herbalist and healer, taught Atlas much of what he knows about plants and their applications. The herbalism kit that he owns now was once hers. Her ability to find beauty in the ordinary is also a trait he inherited from her.
His father, an astrologer, left his family without warning when he was still pretty young. He isn't resentful for this and assumes his father just had a higher calling or that something mysterious happened to him. After he left Atlas spent much of his free time delving into his father's books on the cosmos, learning about the stars, the moon, and the planets beyond.
Upon coming of age, Atlas began to question why his father left more and more, eternally curious about his sudden disappearance, which seemed both out of character and suspicious. As he grew older the more it had begun to bother him, and he knew he had to solve the mystery of his disappearance.
He began asking around locally, people his father worked with or that had known him from their own childhoods. He sent letters to his father's colleagues, but no one had any answers.
His searching for answers led him to the mysterious Circle of Stars. A druid circle that revered the cosmic powers of the unknown just as much as his father did. A kind kenku druid named Murmur took him under his wing, and taught him the ways of druidic life in exchange for this knowledge he is now forever indebted to the Circle and his druid tutor.
