SpeciesKiller whale (Antarctic type B hybrid)

Place of residenceRonne ice shelf, Antarctica
Height/Weight5'7 / 160lbs

A flirtatious and down to earth killer whale who likes the night life. He is somewhat polite and friendly, and open to friendships from anyone. He is very observant and intrapersonally intelligent, and can become judgmental because of being confident in his own feelings. He is similar yet quite different than his twin brother, he can be taunting and confident in his status over weak individuals, but he does not lust for violence the way Winck does. He also isn't really motivated to be so though he has the potential. As time goes on, he seems to let go of this behavior..

Winter likes to focus on enjoying life most of all, and is a homebody that is usually sleeping during the day or doing mundane activities. He is seen as having a calm personality by other killer whales, but also lazy. He really enjoys spending time with others, family or friends, but he always wants a variety of people in his life. A lot of killer whales like him because of being perceived as easy. But, he can easily be annoyed and be overcome with a menacing silence, especially when he is asked for too much attention and favors.

Winter speaks in a slow and flamboyant tone, and tends to valleyspeak at times.

To others he is close to, he will devote himself to them (He doesn't like to show this devotion to his brother, though he does.) Sometimes, he will go overboard and be downright possessive. He is a very imaginative and a romanticizing type of whale too, which means he can get carried away with his fantasies. This can make others uncomfortable, and the solution would be to force him to be more realistic. All in all, he is very loving to those important in his life and will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Backstory

Winter was born in Antarctica waters, right after his twin brother Winck. His father is a type B and A orca hybrid and his mother is a Type B that had associated herself with Ronne pod, just like the father's mother. (These details are not too important.) Even though this type B side of the family do not stay in Onora's clan, Winter, Winck, and their father do. They have grown up within close care by the others in the family because of having a different culture.

Winter's early life was mostly focused on bonding with his pod, but he also spent a lot of time endlessly defending his brother from trouble. His rational demeanor made him a good candidate for supporting Winck. Even so, he had his own ways of trouble making too that he had an easier time getting away with. He was particularly known for making messes and stealing, as he felt entitled to whatever he wanted. His father had been very permissive and was not a great role model for them (because of his low confidence and being poor at defending others), though he was very loving. Their mother was only present for their infanthood.

When he was a child, he was also very social with other killer whales and liked to explore Antarctica with his brother and friends. Winter, along with his twin, went to primary and secondary schools for killer whales. They were always assigned the same class.

As a type b killer whale, his kin every year go on a winter vacation to the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean (it is a tradition, in order to avoid the harsh cold of the Antarctic winter). Winter and Winck join their mother and her clan to travel there, but because of their mother disowning them, they are quite unwelcome. Their mother always tells them to stay in the back of the travel group. However, when they arrive at the destination, a resort in the South Atlantic Ocean (off the coast of Uruguay), the twins spend their days having a luxurious time with other killer whales who have traveled there. Before they were old enough to go by themselves, their father would take them to these waters.

Winck has had a direct influence on his life for sure, they were inseparable for the longest time. They would always travel together and do activities together, as well as entertain themselves with practice hunting. At times, Winck was pretty dependent on Winter and would need help for many things (Like school work, doing errands, and defense.) When the brothers got in typical fights they would end up vehemently ignoring each other, but then makeup in short time. They don't get in fights often though, because Winter has high patience for Winck's erratic and impulsive behavior. It's something he's gotten used to and doesn't see anything too wrong with.

After some time at the end of their teenage days, Winter started to grow tired of Winck's dependence on him. For the first time he had abruptly tried to disassociate from his brother, and this was a difficult time because of how Winck was handling it. Eventually, Winck had become self-aware of his behavior and slowly tried to put up with doing his responsibilities and activities on his own. Winter couldn't help himself of guilt and still ended up helping him with trying to be independent, by thoroughly talking to him about ways he should be able to support himself and to not excessively overvalue their relationship. Now, the only thing Winck forces Winter to do is help him in hunting, and their favorite place to go together is a bar.

In their later adulthood, Winter and Winck still keep their strong bond as twins.

Winter has grown up with relatively little family responsibility (other than Winck) and lots of free time. As he became an adult, his want for a domestic life drived him to learn how to do more responsibilities, so he does a lot of cleaning and other chores in his pod's building complex. The family is pleased with this new change. He still spends a lot of his time sleeping and drinking though.

[I need more info on arcs with different characters, and the way he lives day to day life.]

Extra facts

  • He has the smallest room in his residence, a room that used to be a walk in closet.
  • His leapord seal patterned collar was a gift from Winck.
  • Likes to drink kelp wine from time to time.
  • Has an above-average enjoyment of getting and giving hugs.

Relationships

Zale: A whale that Winter loves very deeply and unconditionally. They had met in a hunting quarrel, and ever since then Winter pursues him, not for feasting but for true love. It takes a long time for Zale to accept him, but they did eventually become friends and things took off from there. One day they will be married and have a beautiful hybrid daughter. Winter keeps his relationship a secret from his pod, except from Winck. He fears they may object to it by wanting to eat Zale.

Winck (Twin brother): His friend and the only person he can truly be comfortable with. He doesn't depend on him the way Winck does on him, but appreciates his company nontheless. He thinks his brother's personality is completely fine, and never judges him. He loves to gush about his interests or crushes to him the most, and loves to share a good meal.

Toran (Third cousin): Someone Winter respects. They grew up together with mostly happy memories, but also with times where he had to be the peacemaker with the arguments Toran had with Winck.

Onora Rona (Great grandmother:) Someone he learned a lot from. Winter loves his great-grandmother and appreciates her hard work and nurturing, but he wishes she could've done more to keep Faith in check.

Faith: (Second cousin): Growing up, Winter would frequently argue with Faith, especially when he had to defend his brother. He hated her for being a abusive towards others. As they got older, he has forgotten about this grudge and instead doesn't acknowledge her.
