Lino is an only child, born to an American father and Japanese mother. He's lived a very ordinary life, and can't say that anything outstanding has happened to him. The only part of his life that may be different from others is being raised bilingual, and having a steady picture of what life in the United States would be like. This has also made him raised with slightly different morals and values, making him sometimes act out- but to his family, he's just being himself.
Lino ended up loving the hipster culture, and unapologetically wore the style. Sometimes he would get called out for having blonde hair, but he'd fight that it's natural and found delight that it makes him stick out. In the end, he's a good natured kid who holds on to his individuality while still conforming to society at large.

Personality · · ·
Lino is a mild-mannered boy, whose agreeable personality mixed with his warm smile earns him a lot of friends and acquaintances. Despite this charm, he's rather shy and tends not to approach others first- but welcomes you with open arms. Even though he's rather shy, he loves being extroverted and being with people! He gets along with all manner of people, and finds it exciting to meet English speakers- his father speaks English, after all!
AGREEABLE
Lino hates rocking the boat, and tries his best to keep everything and everybody in harmony. He's rather go with the flow, which makes interacting with him quite easy.
SPINELESS
It's far too easy to walk all over Lino and take advantage of his good heart- even when he knows you're doing so to him. It's not easy for him to stand up for himself.
HESITANT
Lino thinks first and acts later- which is normally a good thing, but he can sit on a decision for far too long and it ends up being a worse situation. He's also an overthinker, which makes dealing with situations difficult.
RELAXED
Because of his easy-going nature, he's incredibly easy to befriend! However, he's one of the last to be picked as the responsible leader-type.

Backstory · · ·
Lino is born into the Torisei household, the only child to an American father and Japanese mother. His family has always lived in Japan, making him only have citizenship in one country and never having visited the United States. Growing up, he learned both Japanese and English- making him bilingual. He does not claim to be fluent, though he can hold a conversation well. He's still learning slang and how to write in it. This made him somewhat popular in school, and he never felt alone or ignored.
He's a responsible child, who got decent grades, but never played any sports. His extracurricular activity of choice is music. His nerdy ways were endearing to teachers and students alike. Despite his good attitude, he still found himself with troublemakers from time to time. It was in middle school that he and Miki began dating- though he knew she wasn't the best influence. Her confidence was enticing and they enjoyed a year together before breaking up amicably.
Their friendship withstood the breakup, and the two can still be caught today, hanging out. Their duo becomes a trio though, when Miki and Lino set their sights on a brunette with a purple flower in her hair at school- Aiyana.
The Spirit World · · ·
Lino has been visiting the Spirit World for almost as long as he can remember. This is due to his ability he's always had- Astral Projection. He can visit the Spirit World at will, using his power. As a child, he didn't fully understand where he was, instead wandering it as he would a dream. Over the months though, his grasp of the situation solidified.
He recognizes many people- those that come more often than not. Knowing this is the world where the dead and demons walk together, he typically keeps his distance. He has found Miki wandering there, too- realizing she has an extraordinary power as well. Had he not met her outside of the world though- he'd have never talked to her in it.
Lino is not the strongest fighter. His powers do not conjure up a recognizeable weapon. Instead, the black substance stays around his fists- like an aura- where he can use it like brass knuckles or block attacks.
Asterays · · ·
Lino has never visited or even heard of this shrine, but he's seen the shrine uniforms more times than he can count. At first, he thought nothing of the garb- until he looked closer at the details. There's something different about them, but he can't figure it out- nor does he want to ask.
After he meets Chika and Yukio, he soon learns the depths this shrine goes. He's a bit concerned- they worship death and demons after all. But he'll give them credit, they do it in a way that makes sense. That the natural order of things is ultimately death, and that the ruler of such a task is demonic in nature... still, it kind of freaks him out, so he tends to avoid it at all costs.

She's got quick wit and is always laughing- admirable traits in Lino's eyes. Though their relationship didn't work out romantically, he finds her a strong friend whose reliable.
He enjoys her company greatly! She's almost a security blanket for somebody like him, lacking confidence.
She's gentle and kind, while being bubbly and cheerful. She's got strong little-sister vibes, and he finds her endearing. Perhaps it's that closeness that eases his heart to speak so candidly- trying to sort out his own feelings and being honest. She's always listening, and never judges him. It's a great source of ease for him.
He hopes he doesn't waste Aiyana's time. He knows her heart lies with another boy, so he constantly worries that he's getting in the way. But the fact she always makes time for him and is so understanding is a big positive to him.
