Avery Vyner's Comments

Avery is a very interesting character. I like that even though they descend from faeries, they don't look the like typical faeries that I usually see. And whereas faeries usually practice magic, Avery is much more interested in science (I usually look at the two as opposite). They are also try to build something out of plants & machinery, which is also another interesting contrast.

I enjoyed reading about the family of origin story. From what I gathered, a couple suffered a loss of their premature child, then soon after discovered Avery in the bushes and took them... abducted them? Whether it was to quel their loss or because they were simply concerned for a baby abandoned in the bush, I'm not too certain. There was somebody watching in the bushes who had green eyes so I'm thinking it might be Avery's biological parent giving them up. Not 100% sure if I interepreted the story correctly but there's certainly an air of mystery to it and I wonder if it will hold any bearing on Avery's future.

Anyways, I enjoyed reading about your character. Thanks for sharing them!

Ahh, thank you so much! I wanted to base Avery of the Patupaiarehe, who are thought to be the Maori equivalent of the Fair Folk as well as more traditional fairy creatures, meaning I could make some fun design choices! Also, one of my favourite sub-tropes of the' Mad Scientist' archetype is the idea of going against nature and duality in general (think Jekyll and Hyde) so they were both things I wanted to put my own twist on haha.  As for the backstory, you got it spot on, I wanted to keep it a little vague and with some questions unanswered so if I do eventually use Avery in a story there will still be some mystery!

Their story is so well thought-out, and I love mad scientist character in general, so they're so awesome imo!!

Thank you!

I absolutely love this combination of a changeling and a mad scientist . . . She's quite a unique character, and her talkative personality is so endearing . . . She also feels very realistic and well balanced . . .

Ahh, sorry for responding so late, I'm really bad at replies... Thank you so much for your comments and the follow!

Avery is an adorable character aaa? I thought they were already in my faves but apparently not? ;; Nevermind, this mistake is fixed now :"D

I love how you took the "mad scientist" trope and did a really original and cute thing with it; it's surprising and pleasing to see that they aren't your usual "crazy villain" indeed ♥ I also like how they aren't able to do everything yet (like creating life) and are still learning stuff, that gives a cool balance to your character's abilities/skills. Their trivia is absolutely adorable as well, and I love their design! Their hair is the cutest ;w; ♥

Thank you so much! I have always really that trope and really wanted to put my own spin on it. As much as I like the morally grey mad scientist I wanted to explore the side of science that's about the wonders of discovery and curiosity!

OK, I won't lie, I love mad scientists and I think this is a really cute take on one?? Avery is sincerely adorable and the tidbit about them making a lifeform out of plants and machinery made me go "aww" right off the bat. Kinda makes me wonder what would happen if they became successful. XD They have a rather intriguing backstory too, I don't see quite as many changelings! They're quite the cutie! :D

Thank you so much! I'm a sucker for Mad Scientist characters myself and Frankenstein is one of my favourite books so it was really fun putting my own spin on that sort of character!
