For many centuries the world was manipulated and changed due to the actions of some and many. Two orders fought against each other to change the world, in the shadows and even in public, in order to achieve their grand yet extremes goals. Which side will you choose? Freedom or to Control? To kill or to protect?

AU is currently set in the 21st century and is much like our current world except technology is more advance compared to our current technology. Unknowingly to the general public, there is a long wage war between two groups: Templars and Assassins. The long history of the covert war has evolved in this era taking on multiple affiliations yet branching all over the globe. 

In this era, Abstergo Industries is a multinational corporate conglomerate, and the primary front for the modern day activities of the Templar Order. One of the largest and most prominent corporations in the world, Abstergo Industries, or its predecessors, were responsible for the majority of human technological development for the past millennia. Despite genuinely contributing to the technological development of society, Abstergo Industries' primary mission, as dictated by its Templar members, was "the destruction of the Assassin Order, the procurement of advanced technologies originally created by the First Civilization, and establishing a New World Order". 

The corporation is on the search for the pieces of eden found scattered in the modern day world and thus have decided to send their own men back in time to relive the past, by using a machine dubbed the "Animus", which allows its user to view the genetic memories of his or her ancestors. The Assassin Order is trying to stop the Templar Order from finding the pieces of eden by finding them first and using their own Animus to send some of their Assassin's back in time to find clues of the whereabouts of the missing powerful artifacts. Who will get their hands on the artifacts first?
