Story

Idyll is the definition of serenity. She lives a happy life alone in a small cottage, right between a lush wheat field and a beautiful forest. She spends her days baking, gardening, and picking flowers, thoroughly untroubled by the rest of the world. She has a quiet voice and doesn’t talk very often, unless she’s complementing her plants or her friends come to visit, in which case she’ll talk and laugh until her voice goes hoarse.

Idyll grows all her own food: from pumpkins to strawberries, to potatoes and oranges. She has an entire orchard and garden behind her house that she tends to regularly. She makes an array of delicious foods, jams, and soups with her produce, and will often make the long trek to town to sell them and share them with the townsfolk. Idyll is well known for her fresh bread and marmalade.

At the end of the day, she hunkers down with a slice of cake and a nice book (fantasy novels, children’s chapter books, and classic horrors are her favorites), or she sits outside to watch the stars.

Personality

Idyll is a very calm person. She doesn’t get riled up easily, and keeps all her emotions rather quiet. Living alone in her peaceful little part of the world, there isn’t much for her to get riled up over (outside of small inconveniences, whether it be cooking mishaps, or losing something important, or forgetting to water a plant). 

Most things she does are very quiet. From her emotions to her sense of kindness. Idyll isn’t one for grand gestures of compassion, but she will often offer a small smile and a baked good to whoever needs it. She keeps to herself most of the time, but is calm and kind to those she meets. It’s not uncommon for her to house strangers as they pass by, offering a meal and a place to sleep in exchange for a trinket or a story. She never lets anyone stay longer than a night though, unwilling to share her space for too long.

Appearance

Idyll’s exact feather colors vary throughout the seasons, going from a warm wheat color in spring and summer, to bright golds and reds in fall, to pale desaturated browns and greys in the winter. Flower markings adorn her chest, and she has small wheat-shaped patterns along her neck. She often sticks flowers and leaves in her neck feathers as decoration. Her attire is a mixture of sweaters, long skirts, loose dresses, overalls, and her one or two aprons. Most have small personal touches—embroidery, extra buttons, or messily stitched on pockets. Idyll isn’t much of a seamstress, but she can get the job done (most of the time).
