Summary

Personality

Amicable - Curious - Stiff - Impartial

Scout's model type allows him to appear almost human in his mannerisms and way of speech, but it is obvious he is an android beyond appearances. He speaks in a stilted manner when the subjects at hand are not about landscapes and sceneries. (However, get him on the topic of his expertise, and he will go on in lovely, emotional detail about things he isn't entirely sure how to feel about)

Sentient beings are a subject of great interest to him, and though he knows better, he hopes eventually to be considered one of them, if for the sake of his own safety. It would be awfully convenient to not be ousted and have his life threatened anymore. But at the same time, Scout knows 'his place', and rarely fights back against anyone, often being torn towards the humanoid authorities when they plead/coerce him back toward his doom.

As in his nature that goes beyond actual programming, Scout loves to be puzzled and follow intrigue, as long as it's safe for any lifeforms around him.

Story

Just another 'Droid trying not to get slated for memory wipe/repurposing...

He quite liked his duty (being half land surveyor, half 'social' android, teaching well-to-do folks about the lands and planets they plopped him into) up until his company bosses told him the 1.10 model could do his job two times faster, with twenty new routines he wasn't privy to downloading.
He went off the grid and fast, knowing exactly what happened to his 'siblings' if they allowed their higher-ups to upgrade them.

A sweet lad with a curious nature-- sometimes too curious, but for certain folks he sure can have a good time taking them hiking. More often than not, his customers are actually criminals who need guiding through massive defunct towers or underground tunnels and such.
Even then, this doesn't mean Scout knows everything-- about anything, really, not just scouting... He mostly serves as a beacon in these unexplored places, knowing he is being used as a safety precaution rather than being thought of as another being. He doesn't like that part of the work, but now that he's free, he needs all the money he can get.

Relationships

[AU] Alda: "If I can speak candidly about how Alda makes me feel: I have trust in his decision-making, as his choices when regarding our safety in specific matters is... 84.2310 percent correct." Scout's pact with Alda to keep each other safe as they hold a similar situation leading to their wilderness survival makes them good company to one another.
Even if there are a few commonalities, there is much more that makes them different from one another. In that, Scout enjoys that intrigue far too much; he has a whole database of Alda's responses and reactions that he taps into often.
Despite his pretty damning emotional connection to the medic-turned-jack-of-all-trades, Scout is never sure where he stands with Alda ("it is statistically impossible to predict what Alda will decide next in our relationship")... Though he knows he wants to stay by his side as long as possible, protecting- and working- with him.

Trivia

  • Wouldn't sound so tinny/trope-y if he could get a clean update to his systems. But since he's been off the grid he hasn't been able to find an engineer who can fix him up properly... Plus, in Scout's own opinion, "It is a trivial matter. My survival and 'health' takes priority."
  • Can scan and register his surroundings faster than any organic being. His databases help consider any risks regarding terrain for many lifeforms. Any new planet or species he comes across is taken into accord from then-on as well.
  • Self-made man. Take that as you will, as it can be attributed to a multitude of things about this 'droid...
  • Whether Scout was a name given by himself for himself, or whether he heard it so much he began to associate to it is unknown. But based on his attitude toward it, it's safe to say he doesn't mind it.
