Intro

Finch, the adopted son of Dr. Fairweather, is a fanatical conspiracy theorist and experienced occultist. While running a business as a local ghosthunter, they spends most of their time on his studies. Finch believes that the world is stuck in a “perfect system”, and that the system needs to be snapped to find genuine truth.

Personality

He picked up many cultures and manners from his father. He is polite and formal while communicating with others. Even though his nervousness and social awkwardness often get in the way. A notable trait of Finch is his curiosity. His childlike urge to uncover mysteries and go on quests never left him. Finch frequently keeps to himself, fully engaged in his work. They’ll easily get pissed if anyone tries to distract him. However he does acknowledge that his mannerisms could take a toll on himself and others. Roko helps him overcome this during the Post-Cabinet Arc. Hidden inside, Finch actually cares very deeply about his loved ones. He just struggles to express it, often seeming aggressive.

Backstory

Merely an elementary student, Finch attended their school one day as normal. It happened to be the day that their friend, Jaxx had a pyrotechnic outburst (which is normal for his age, still learning how to control his powers). Most of the school quickly caught fire, causing all its attendants to panic. As the building demolished, everyone scattered in different directions, running for safety. Finch ran surprisingly far, to a whole new town he was unfamiliar with. He caught his breath, and then realized they were lost with no way home. Hours past and it started to grow late. They were scared of what would happen if he was seen alone, and plus the temperature started to drop for the night. He eventually found an abandoned church for shelter and headed in.

They wandered in, in search of food and/or warmth, yet he was encountered by a swarm of shadows. Of course the boy was frightened at first, but the swarm treated him with kindness, and hosted a tea party to celebrate his arrival. Finch did make one friend in particular that night, Swivel, a young shadow.

A week or a few pass, and nothing much happens between Finch and the shadows until a new face waltzes in. A scientist, Dr. Fairweather, in search of a place to set up his new lab. As he enters, the shadows go back into hiding, leaving him to discover the troubled boy. He sees potential in the boy and adopts him!!!!

Growing up in Fairweather’s current lab at the time, Finch learned various sciences from his father. Over the years, he slowly reshaped his lifestyle. From one of a normal schoolage boy to one filled with weird science and black magic. Around the age of 14, he decided to shift his practices towards magic usage, eventually discovering that he specializes in summoning and spirit-management. His biggest inspiration has to be Dr. Mavolia, a famous practitioner. As a huge fan, Finch cherished his works, but one concept in particular spoke to him the most. Once Finch heard one of the doctor’s theories, in which he proposed society could be stuck in a system, the idea grew on him. Finch was so invested in the man’s statements that they dedicated his whole life to uncovering the hidden system, and snapping it. His father, however, was against Mavolia. Whenever he’d catch Finch engaging in his content, he’d quickly remind Finch to stay clear of it. Finch does not understand why F.W. keeps shutting down his only inspiration, calling it “nonsense” and so-what. He chooses to neglect his father’s warnings, still working his plan out today.

Trivia

●Finch’s original surname was “Garridan” before he was adopted.

● They hate it when others call Roko a “robot”. They view the term as dehumanizing, and believes “android” portrays him better.

●Their face lit up when they saw the windows of the church he visited. With intricate craftsmanship and charming designs that he couldn’t quite process the meaning of, the stained glass windows allowed for beautiful beams of light to illuminate the main space. The environment touched finch so much that this moment is still a main motivation for their theories today.

●His hair wasn’t originally supposed to be that fluffy, I just couldn’t help myself while designing him.

●Finch has Klinefelter Syndrome!!

●The back of his cloak has a pentagram on it. Perfect for portable summonings.
