Oliver was born cursed with an iguana tail and since then has has been cursed again twice, through little fault of his own thanks to irate, irrational nephs. The zipper was first and the scarf was second, originally a real garment used to hide the zipper.
He lives with his brother Jesse in the suburbs of Catalis, but spends most of his time indoors (not that he really wants to he's just scared). He occupies his time playing video games online with various friends - he's breaking in to streaming on Whisker with his bestie Quake too - and is Actually Pretty Good at them. Despite having online friends Oliver remains isolated and dodges attempts to meet up with his buddies out of fear of judgement. This leaves him mostly with Jesse for company and while they love each other they get along tenuously at best. Jesse is ragingly overprotective of Oliver and not in a good way, with his temper liable to get them into more trouble than Oliver's presence. They strongly morally disagree but Jesse takes any critique extremely personally so the two of them continue not to talk anything out.
His parents made it clear they expected great things of Jesse and his big sister Ersie but never pushed Oliver that much nor made any moves to "invest in his future" even if at the time he was grateful for not being forced into extracurriculars. He's always felt like a letdown who had failed step one at birth and wasnt ever given a chance bc he wasnt worth it. Moving out with Jesse was his chance to get out of the oppressive atmosphere of the house, not necessarily an ideal move.
On the bright side, having a little more space has really allowed him to open up into his own niche (isolated though it may be) streaming with his friends on Whisker.tv and featuring in some of their videos on Magitube. He refuses to show his face and his best friend HartQuake08's growing fanbase has taken a shine to him, obssessed with the mystery that is the faceless voice of (oliver's username here LOL). Oliver's actual skill at games has begun to earn him a bit of a reputation, too.
Oliver is very friendly and quite the quick comedian but his true outgoing nature has been dampened over the years, so he remains pretty meek. Like his brother, he has a predisposition to get angry when anything goes badly or he's disagreed with, but he's better about keeping it to himself.

Spinx are a terribly mischievous type of sphinx native to Nephfei with a deep love for pranks and fashion. They are magicless, unlike the other species of their world - legend has it they pranked the gods and were punished - and thus are very magically malleable. Because of this, spinx can be cursed or gifted with magic and it affects their bodies drastically.
Spinxyn are identifiable by their heart-shaped faces, sloped banana ribcage, and innate desire to cause problems on purpose.
World Context || Nephfei group <3
A modern fantasy world governed by magical gods, Nephfei is home to four sentient species - harpips, centicorns, merphins, and spinxyn. They live together in relative peace aside from some cultural clashes between locales of differing ideologies. The world has been imbued with magic, in all four species and in the earth itself, but spinxyn have none of their own; revoked by the gods, so they say, as an ancient punishment. With tangible deities, Nephfeism is a prevalent religion amongst the inhabitants, and some religious spinxyn see their situation as deserved punishment, while others deny the gods entirely and rally against this unfair treatment.
Nephfei has a good amount of modern-day technology, though its electricity is replaced by magic. Lighting, household appliances, television, games, and the internet at large all exist with relative similarity to the real world. Despite the societal advancements, though, a significant amount of the world's history and inner workings remain shrouded in mystery and magical secrets...
