Pauline Bernard

Pauline Bernard (née Cazin) is a knowledgable herbalist who took over the family business around two decades ago. Medicinal plants are not Pauline’s main passion, but she doesn't hate her job either (and besides, she doesn't want to be a total disappointment to her family). Actually, all her children were named after plants, and she keeps a notebook in which she writes down any gardening or herbalism tips she may have. Azarias is a recurring customer of hers.

Pauline is also a hobbyist poetess, specifying in contemplative poems about nature or emotions. She and her son Olivier like to chat about writing, and she is very supportive of him in that regard. She has trouble connecting with her daughters, Yvonne and Suzanne. And her marriage to Albéric is an utter disaster.

Generally speaking, Pauline is the kind of person who puts the needs of others before hers. She was raised Catholic and was a childhood friend of Thérèse, but converted to Calvinism for the sake of her marriage with Albéric. Thérèse and her don't talk any more because of that.

Being an ancestor of Mauricette and Moroni, Pauline doesn’t go anywhere without her parasol.
