Porcia is technically a cyborg, and also a companion/assistant to Dr. Reid. Born on Raden 6, a known hub for outcasts and pirates, she had little of a life to begin with. Mostly a scavenger and pickpocket, she made her own ends meet by stealing from those who visited the dock. Once she was older, she moonlighted in a rather shady bar as a performer.
Killed during a battle on the spaceport, her body was picked up by Dr. Reid's crew. Pretty much Reid's first successful reanimation experiment, she has continued to earn her keep on the ship. She generally assists Dr. Reid with his current projects and research. She's actually quite smart and makes a decent partner. Happiest when she is working, she puts in long hours and is working on developing some of her own technology.
Though she was technically 'dead' for a short amount of time, she has no lingering effects short of not remembering her actual death. She is aware that she passed on briefly, though there are no memories of it. For that matter, her second life is much happier and more fulfilling than her life on Raden 6. (187)
Some quick facts: Porcia is around 19 years old, a husky mix and a lesbian (strictly). Her left hand is not actually skin at all, it's a prosthetic pretty much, covered by a glove. She doesn't really take it off, it's not only unsightly but uncomfortable. She has a collection of goggles, not just for fashion but also functionality.
