Reed de Févin

A teacher who was once a ruthless hunter until his actions cost him everything.

Behind the cheerful smile was a ruthless man. Reed was a bounty hunter, but the bounties he caught he instead sold to other buyers. What they did with his catches he didn't care, just as long as he was paid.
One day it all caught up with him.
A young man recovered his sister after she had been captured by Reed. He was disgusted and furious and could think of nothing other than revenge. But he was weak, especially against a hunter, so he hired an infamous assassin called the Nightingale.
The assassin easily tracked down Reed, sending a calling card that his life was now limited. The Nightingale was near impossible to dodge, especially now that they had his location. All he could do was go somewhere where his family wouldn't have to see him.
He kissed his wife and hugged his daughter goodbye, and it was as he got into his car to leave that a thought occurred:
What if, in some twisted way, the Nightingale wasn't after me? What if they were after someone who wouldn't have a phone to track but was always close to me...?

BANG!!

Reed had lost everything.
Two weeks after the funeral his wife filed for divorce. She couldn't look him in the eyes. This, all of this, was his fault. They both knew it.
He gave up his career as a bounty hunter and took the closest job he could find, a substitute teacher. It was a nice distraction, and in a way he felt like he had a family again with all his students. So he got a teaching license and started on building a new life.

Notes: I once found a pic of a guy with weapons in a guitar case, and that became the premise for Reed. He was meant to be this cool, tough guy, but every time I posted him around he was nothing but jolly and sweet! Around his time, I also started studying music, and I began to put everything I found in an ideal band director into Reed. Whenever I'd be in a class I'd find myself thinking, "What would Reed do?" and would just imagine him conducting. I moved him to TH and suddenly all that cheerfulness was gone and replaced with this sad sack of a man! I'm still not sure I have his voice just right, but he's still fun to write!
As for his name, "reed" comes from woodwind reeds, and "de Fevin" was from a list of composer surnames!

Personality: Around his students at school Reed is energetic and helpful. No one is a bad player in his eyes and he has all the patience in the world. He's constantly smiling and loves talking with his students. However, the weight of his sins rest heavily on his shoulders, and when outside of work it shows. His energy is drained and he's unable to hold a smile. He is typically seen breaking down and sobbing uncontrollably.

Non-human Weapons:

- Musicality - A set of weapons fashioned to look like normal musical instruments. This includes a clarinet revolver, a trumpet pistol, and a harmonica handgun. What makes these weapons special is that they each have their mouth pieces sticking out when in gun form, and blowing into them can compact the air enough to serve as a substitute bullet. Works up to five times with each weapon once a day.

Drawing Details: Important notes are his white hair and that mark over the left side of his face. His hair is long enough to be in a small ponytail and he's always dressed professionally for a school setting. Tends to have a sad smile on his face.

Fun/Extra Facts:

- The white hair and the tattoo on his face were both caused by different people Reed hunted- the hair was a curse and the tattoo a curse mark.

- Reed met his wife when she kept getting in the way of him hunting someone. They met again and eventually he let her help him, leading to their eventual romance.

- His wife knew he was a bounty hunter, but didn't know he sold to different markets until their daughter's death.

- On Christmas and her birthday, Reed will lock himself in his house and watch old home videos of his daughter. He will drink heavily.

- Despite his desire to find the Nightingale and get revenge, he can't bring himself to pick up a gun and hunt again.

- Is familiar with just about all (common) instruments, although he's confident in playing harp, french horn, and percussion.

- Once conducted his band blindfolded.

- Is well known for taking last chair players and last bands and helping them become very successful.

- No matter how tight he has his hair tied up, it always gets in his face when conducting at a concert.

- Very good at composition. At the end of the year, he will always write a piece specifically tailored for his band. Every part is individualized and reflects the improvement he's seen in students.

- Owns a Snuggie.
