About

Lola is an energetic, hard-working, bubbly restaurant owner. If it wasn't obvious, she has a passion for 1950s fashion and aesthetics. This passion is so strong that she tries to work it into her clothing, general appearance, home decor, and even her restaurant. She's also a hobbyist antique collector, specifically into collecting 1950s memorabilia. Even the car she drives is from the 1950s! She truly loves the aesthetic of that decade and does whatever she can to incorporate it to her own lifestyle. Even the restaurant she works for, as you would expect, has a 1950s them, from the decor to the uniforms. Even the fare served is typical of the average 50s themed diner.

At work, Lola's hospitality is practically unmatched. She treats everyone who comes inside like family. She and all of her staff are kindhearted, warm people who go above and beyond to make sure every single customer is in good hands. If somebody is obviously struggling in some way, Lola will do what she can to make sure they're alright, even if it means heavily discounting their meal, or even giving it to them for free. For people who frequent her restaurant, Lola tries her best to remember their names and typical orders. She also tries to keep in touch with them, always willing to be their friend.

Backstory

Past

Born in Spain, Lola had always had a strange admiration for idealized American culture, especially from eras before 1960. Her parents were museum curators, so their line of work is what really kicked off Lola's admiration for vintage eras and their memorabilia. She had also always been a rather good chef, and had taught herself to cook foods from all sorts of different cultures. In university, she had been given the opportunity to study abroad in America, and she was more than happy to take up the chance. However, upon arriving in America, she was rather disappointed. It was nothing like what she had expected, which made her a bit sad. After completing her degree, Lola moved back to America, moving into a small town near where she had previously visited in order to open a restaurant -- specifically a 50s-themed diner. It was almost immediately successful, much to her delight and surprise. To her, it was a little piece of the American life she had idealized. Even though the world around her was more bleak than what she had liked, her restaurant (and home) were exactly what she dreamed of.

Present

As Lola continued to settle into America, she eventually found herself with a wife, a little sister in-law, a friend group consisting of other 50s enthusiasts, and an entire mini family consisting of people who frequented her restaurant. She feels blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people, though it would be a lie to say that she doesn't miss her family in Spain. She frequently keeps in contact with them with daily phone calls and video chats, and has even had her parents flown out to the US to see her. They're proud of her for starting her own successful business and love her new circle of people in her life. Lola considers herself to be very lucky and very blessed.

Dani Harvey-Marino [ Wife ]

Lola's wife, whom they had met because of Valentine, Dani's little sister. Lola was catering at Valentine's school, and the teen thought Lola's bubbly personality  would perfectly compliment Dani's own dramatic personality. Valentine would practically go out of her way to make Dani frequent Lola's restaurant, and eventually Lola began to recognize Dani as a regular. They soon became friends, and eventually, Dani asked Lola to be their girlfriend. Lola was ecstatic when Dani asked -- she had been wanting to for a while, but she was honestly happy that Dani beat her to the punch. She eagerly accepted and the two were in a very happy, loving relationship for a while, only for them to, completely coincidentally, propose at the same time. They soon were wed and Dani moved in with Lola. Life is practically perfect for the couple -- they couldn't be happier. Lola is a sweet, doting wife... and honestly, so is Dani. They're easily a match made in heaven.

Valentine Harvey [ Younger Sister in-law

Valentine is Dani's little sister, making her Lola's little sister in-law. Lola loves Valentine as if they've been sisters their entire life -- she's basically her entire world. She's so grateful that Valentine is the reason why she's married at all right now, but that definitely isn't the only reason why she loves her. The two are very like-minded people, down to their bubbly personalities. Valentine has been considering getting a job at Lola's diner and Lola really hopes that she actually will -- she loves her baby sister (in-law) dearly!

Alice Massey [ Friend

Valentine's girlfriend. Because Lola is a very warm, friendly person, she naturally adores Alice as she would a little sister. Alice loves Lola right back, so the two have a wonderful relationship. Alice frequents at Lola's restaurant -- not just to eat, but if she has spare time, she loves helping Lola  (and Dani, if she's there) close up. Lola almost always gives Alice free meals, considering her to be family. She also definitely dreams of catering at Alice and Valentine's future wedding, should they get married. Alice, herself, doesn't think that's a bad idea at all.
