The Keeper of Ravens, or simply just The Keeper, is a mysterious entity. He is seen as a sort of deity of the afterlife for the wolves of Eekraa. It is said that someone will see him in their last moments before death, waiting to take them to their afterlife. Those that have close brushes with death have said that they have seen him, but claimed it was not their time yet and disappeared in a flurry of dark feathers and wingbeats. He may come to a being in either the form of a wolf like creature or as a raven, but he will always have 5 bright blue glowing eyes. He is often also depicted as having a flock of ravens that follow and surround him, so if one sees a large flock of ravens, it means The Keeper is nearby.

Like his name indicates, he is closely tied with ravens. Any wolf that dies becomes one of his ravens, and all ravens are his children. When a wolf dies, it is believed that they grow a pair of dark wings and are flown to the afterlife with The Keeper and his ravens leading them to it where they can eternally join him as one of his ravens.

Things that are used to show respect for and worship to The Keeper include weaving raven feathers into ones fur, not killing ravens for food even if starving, and having some sort of raven totem or item to keep one safe. If a raven gives someone something, it is seen as a gift from The Keeper, and if that gift is food, it means that they are being guided by him to keep living.

Most carry a small weeping double headed raven creature carved from some kind of material such as stone, wood, or shell. This small carving is used as a totem to guide the Keeper to whoever holds it so that they may join him once they die. If someone gifts you one of these carvings while you are still alive, it should be taken as a threat of death. If someone who carries one of these carvings sees someone die or finds someone who is dead and the deceased doesn't appear to have a totem themselves, it is respectful to give ones own carving to the dead and then make a new carving for themselves.

Wolves born with dark feathered wings are highly respected and seen as blessed by The Keeper. Wolves like these do not occur often. They will often become Lords, healers, and spirit talkers; those that can speak with the dead, The Keeper, and his ravens.
