Shy and cautious, Hemi is the pragmatist of The Mystery Club. His mother was a selkie who fell in love with Hemi's father. Wanting to stay with him on land, she asked him to hide away her cloak, knowing if she could find it the temptation to return to the ocean would be too strong. However, a few years after Hemi was born, in the middle of the night, both his mother and her cloak disappeared and have never been seen again. Hemi's father became very protective after that and so Hemi has grown up always being taught to be careful and to follow the rules. Among his friends, he is the most likely to make sure that everyone brought their pocket money for snacks and a jacket in case gets cold. He is almost the exact opposite of his cousin Amaia.

-Hemi and his dad have a pet dog called Billy and a goat named Gruff. They also keep chickens coop. 

-While he knows how to swim, Hemi is afraid of the open ocean.

-Unknown to Hemi, hidden away by his dad, is a cloak of his own
