Hemi is so adorable! I love the expression you drew him in, it perfectly captures his shy personality. Admittedly when I click on his profile I didn't expect him to be a son of a Selkie, nevertheless that just increased my curiosity to learn more about him by several folds! How does his father explain the absence of his mother to him by the way? And does the absence of mother affect his younger years experience? (if these are too much of a spoiler to answer, then please feel free to just say so and skip them )

Also, I see that he likes fantasy books. Is there any particular setting or subject he likes the most (dragon? elves? magic users, etc)?

Thank you! I wanted to make a selkie character that was a bit different from others I've seen so I wanted to combine that idea a few other concepts I was thinking about at the time to make him. His mother's absence has definitely effected him, probably more than he thinks it has. He remembers very little about her himself but she was a big part of the community and his father still talks about her often. As far as Hemi knows she took a small boat out on the bay one night and hasn't been seen since. Her disappearance and assumed drowning had an impact on the whole town and Hemi has grown up with an overprotective father and a big shadow of tragedy over him, things that have definitely taught him to be wary and cautious.

As for what kind of fantasy books he likes, he tends to read a lot of classic kids books like Narnia, and Harry Potter, so a lot of 'kid protagonist discovers a magical world' style stories. He also has a big soft spot for anything with dragons or fairies!
