Johanna

Princess and second daughter of the Leionne kingdom, the largest political entity of their small home world.

Johanna has spent her life dedicated to the studies, speaking over five common galactic languages fluently. Though it was admirable at first, her unquenchable thirst for knowledge began annoying the living daylights out of her parents. She would do everything in her power to evade lessons on things like propriety and manners in favor of worming her way into the vault of banned books. Despite being something of a troublemaker and not the most "proper" princess, she had a good relationship with her siblings, and was quietly happy she wasn't given the responsibility of inheriting the throne.

During the last act of the great war between the Leionne and Arseiya kingdoms, Johanna was travelling through the edge of the warzone with a guarded escort. The route was estimated to have very little danger, but everything flew off the rails when fire and explosions unexpectedly began raining from the sky. Johanna's assigned bodyguard Lotte was assaulted by enemy, causing Johanna to impulsively attempt to protect her. In the chaos, Johanna was blown up by an arcane shell hidden beneath her feet, and her entire lower body was obliterated.  In all of the chaos, it was impossible to find her body, as the enemy forces completely took the area. She was pronounced missing, and likely dead.

The Leionne kingdom has always had a solid foot down on magic usage, believing it to be the most unholy of rituals. The ban on magic literature, apothecaries and the teaching of sorcery has been a long standing tradition. However, after the pronounced death of Johanna, the mourning royal family instated an all new crackdown on the practice of magic, seeking to force magic users from their society entirely. 

Johanna's body was pulled from the battlefield by a solitary group of Arseiya monks, the first group to truly realize her identity aside from the pile of other corpses. Black magic was channeled through her veins by the group, seeking to revive her out of good will and regret for the actions of their military. Despite losing her lower half, Johanna was brought back from death, filled with a bubbling, smoking essence that flowed through her veins and moved as she commanded it. Johanna's revitalization brought freedom in more ways, and now that she lived with the Areiyan monks, she was free to uncover her third eye and learn the ropes of the tainted magic she had always fixated on as a child, flipping through banned books.
