Summary

A strange Pokémon with the body shape of an Espeon but the colors and markings of an Umbreon. Twila lives alone in a cave by a river, in an area to the northwest of Orre, past the green fields and forests and mountains near the region's Pokémon HQ Lab. It's a quiet and peaceful life, for the most part - Perfect for her closed-off nature. It's not the easiest, with pieces of the scarcity and rough terrain of the Orre region still being felt in her own homeland due to its proximity to the harsh region, but she makes do to the best of her abilities.

If you were ever to ask and get a straight answer out of her - An unlikely occurrence to say the least - Twila would be able tell you that, in her youth, she was a fairly normal Eevee living amongst others of her kind... One with a silvery, sparkling coat, which some revered and others rejected, but an otherwise average Eevee nonetheless. It was upon her evolution that things changed, transforming as the sun set and dusk fell. The love for her friends and her life prompted her evolution, the exposure to day gave her form, and the night gave her color. Her strange appearance and powers drawing from both light and dark led her former friends and family to reject her, and she ultimately left, feeling that she no longer belonged, and that no one like her should remain amongst normal Pokémon. To this day Twila holds deep-seated resentment, trust, and self-loathing issues as a result of her rejection...

...Not that she would ever be willing to tell most others this truth.

Trivia

  • Twila is the oldest OC I still own, having been with me since at least middle school - Possibly earlier, having originated from a sprite recolor I made while practicing my spriting on the original PokéFarm back around the Gen IV era. She's seen several revamps since then, adding Umbreon's glowing markings to her once-plain fur, and then changing her colors to that of a shiny Umbreon to match her updated backstory... but the art of her from her original design, drawn by a friend in middle school, remains on my wall where it's hung for years.
  • Twila was once intended to be a main character in a Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD inspired fanfic, in which Celebi itself was among the Pokémon captured and turned into Shadow Pokémon, as well as Darkrai, the only Dark-type Legendary (now Mythical) Pokémon at the time (excluding Arceus holding a Dread Plate). This story never came to fruition and was ultimately scrapped, but I've considered heavily revamping the plot and giving it another shot now that I've grown as a creator. Maybe someday!
  • Having evolved as the sun set, Twila gained not only the appearance of both an Espeon and an Umbreon, but also the learnsets of both Eeveelutions, as well as a dual Psychic/Dark type. This, unfortunately, also left her with a quad weakness to Bug-type moves. She tends to avoid Bug-types as a whole at all cost now.
  • Twila is bisexual, but very much not looking - She formerly had feelings for her best friend, who she evolved in front of. His sudden and complete rejection of her, combined with being outcast by her other peers, has left her largely closed off and unwilling to open herself up to relationships or even friendships.
  • Twila has a Quiet nature, and is characterized as having good perseverance.
  • Before she evolved into her current form, Twila was named Hikari, in reference to her shining fur. She took her current name not only because she felt it no longer fit her darker colors, but also to distance herself from her past.
