Profile

Raemka is quiet whilst being as sharp as a knife, keeping up a veil of quiet amicability to hide his deeper self. Born into Dalish life where every day brings new challenges, he's no stranger to hard work and conflict. He was brought up as the Keeper's First, he knew that one day the fate of the clan would be in his hands. He never expected the fate of the world to overtake that role, but he adapted into it with surprising ease. It's not easy- nor could it ever be- but he does his best to use his experience, personal judgement, and the input of others in tandem to hold the Inquisition together.

He's modest and almost unassuming, but holds a wry smile and wit dry enough to make heads turn in surprise. This might lead some to think him confident, even arrogant, but inside he harbours a nagging fear of weakness. He cannot be weak. Not now, not ever. Instead, he smiles and jokes, hoping no one notices any of his flaws. Of course, no living being is without flaws, but thrust into such a position of power, he pushes himself to be the very best- a paragon and exemplar; even if he doesn't buy the divinity of his position. His voice matters now, and his actions matter even more. He feels the weight of this acutely, and must shoulder it alone.

Being Dalish, he won't stand for any mistreatment of his people. It is fortunate that most cur their tongues on their true feelings with him around, as his easy going attitude can easily turn into righteous fury. Similarly, any mistreatment of mages leaves him with a burning anger both external and internal. The fear mages illicit is a rather foreign thing to him; it leaves him baffled and hurt to see his fellows imprisoned and abused. Still, the most important thing is to defeat Corypheus. Destroying the world luckily lists very high on his priorities, so he's willing to ignore minor exceptions if he helps the Inquisition.

Not as devout as some may believe, Raemka finds that he cannot place his faith into any concrete position. With all that he's seen, and felt, and even become, it is hard to look at any pantheon and truly believe in them. Brought up beliving in the old Elvhen Gods, he still finds himself praying them under his breath in dire situations; though it may just be an old habit. He finds a scientific interest in Andrastism- a little wary of believing himself to be the Herald, but he won't stop anyone else believing it. If it brings them faith, and strength, then so be it. Still, he won't use the term to refer to himself. He's got enough to deal with without being the herald of Andraste and all that comes with it.

Mostly he's very easy to get along with: as long as he's treated as an equal then he'll be a loyal friend. He's a talented mage to be sure, using magic in a way very different from circle born mages; less controlled and far fiercer, he can fry enemies just as easily as he can bury them under the earth. He's a good listener and can lighten up the mood in most situations, though sometimes he needs someone to just stay with him when everything gets to be too much. All in all, he's skilful and friendly, broaching his burdens with determination, all whilst keeping the fire inside him very much lit.
