Thought to be the construct of a witch or similar magic-user, Samhain's body is an amalgam of enchanted soil, vegetation, and something more sinister. Though his origins are less than friendly, the little fellow himself is quite so.

The magic that sustains his body is concentrated in the spell-candle hidden in the husk of his head. It allows him to walk, swim through soil, and on solstices, allow spirits to communicate through him. Though once in use, the pumpkins serving as his head does eventually rot, meaning that he must have a year-round supply of the gourds to keep himself able to move about. In order to accomplish this goal, he serves as a witch's familiar. The witch in question didn't create him, but he seems to enjoy helping them out all the same. In exchange for Samhain's services, they have a small magicked patch of dirt that will grow as many pumpkins as he can sift through.

His is intelligent and sapient, but often has trouble getting his ideas across without the ability to speak.
